I let out a surprised yelp after tripping over the branch. I grow slightly, angered with myself for falling so easily. I will not die, my mind demands.

I quickly get up, not bothering to look back because I know he's right behind me. I don't know why he insisted on his little game, knowing he could easily just speed in front of me and kill me.

Maybe it's because I provoked him. Maybe I was wrong about him not wanting to kill us. Well, duh. He's trying to kill you for a reason.

I'm an idiot.

Before I know it, I'm pressed against a tree. I let out a pained groan as the bark digs into my back. I look at him, eyes widening at the sight of the veins beneath his red eyes and fangs.

    "Holy fu—"

I gasp when I awaken, sweat coating my forehead. I'm quick to strip my blankets off of me, trying to catch my breath and cool myself. A few moments of my panting pass before I'm able to calm myself.

Jesus. I have got to stop worrying about this. I'm not wrong, he won't kill us, and maybe we'll all be great friends after this.

That last bit's a little bit of a stretch...

I wipe the sweat off my forehead before checking the time. I woke up five minutes before my alarm...The thought makes me groan, but I make my way to the bathroom anyway. I raise an eyebrow at the sight of Jeremy actually awake and getting ready for school.

"Oh," I simply state, "my bad." I move to leave but Jeremy's voice stops me.

"Ah, no it's cool. I'm almost done."

I nod my head before grabbing my toothbrush as he spits out the toothpaste in his mouth.

"You're up early," I comment. I put toothpaste on my toothbrush and start brushing.

"I'm going down to the police to join the search party for Vicki," He replies. He puts his toothbrush back into the cup and starts to leave, but I stop him.

"Maybe you should go to school? I hear you learn things there," I suggest with a mouth full of toothpaste. I spit it out into the sink. Gross.

"Are you serious?" He scoffs. "Coming from the girl who ditches school at least once a week." Rude but true.

"True, but we'll know when they find her. That's why we have cellphones. Besides, Elena will kill me if she finds out I know about this," I warn with a little chuckle at the end.

Jeremy didn't find it funny though. "Your lips keep moving, I don't know why," He snaps rudely. He leaves the bathroom.

I have to look around the bathroom for who he's talking to because I know that wasn't directed toward me. And yet, no one else is here.

"Asshole!" I curse, throwing a bar of soap at the back of his head. He flinches when it hits him and flips me off but he doesn't say anything.

I face the mirror before sighing. Vicki is Jeremy's...girlfriend? God I hope not. It's bad enough that she was a druggie and a bitch, but now she's that and a vampire.

This is totally what the world needs.
