I close my eyes and brace for whatever news Lisanna's about to break to me. She takes a deep breath, and somewhere inside of me shatters at the prospect of hearing a long story.

"It actually started when I first came back to Fairy T- arg - !" Someone cut Lisanna off by clasping a hand over her mouth, and I feel like giving that person a medal. I mean, just that start was putting me to sleep! I sit up straighter, remembering that this was a random attack, technically assault. (But what would I know of assault?).

"Hello Natsu!"

"Cana?!" I stare back at the girl who currently has a hand firmly over Lisanna's mouth. "Uh, what are you doing?"

She replies a little breathlessly, "I could ask the same thing, but I'm not going to. Lisanna and I are just going to have a little... chat. Over there. Have a good day, Natsu!" Keeping her hand over her mouth, Cana helps Lisanna out of her seat and over towards the girls' dorms. I sit there, finally letting my mouth gape open. What the hell just happened?

Gray and Gajeel look at me the moment I walk through the door again.

"So what did she want?" They immediately ask.

I sigh and throw my keys onto my bed. "She was going to tell me something, but we were interrupted."

"That's weird." Gajeel states the obvious.

"Why'd she want to talk to you all of the sudden?" Gray asks. "I mean, she kinda dropped off the face of the earth when she went abroad, and never really bothered to reconnect after moving back."

After confirming there's no more food left, I lie back on my bed with a sigh. I have no idea why Lisanna would all of the sudden want to talk to me. There isn't any way she could harbor feelings over our breakup, could she?

"Nah, that's stupid," Gajeel laughs. Shit, did I say that out loud?

"Way to be insensitive," I mutter. "Hasn't spending time with the bookworm teach you anything?"

"Hey, I'm the only one allowed to call her names now." Gajeel practically growls, "if she's a bookworm, she's my bookworm."

Gray and I share a look. I try to stifle my laughter, but when I look at Gajeel's face it all comes pouring out. I can't help it- he looks hilarious blushing with a grumpy and aggressive face!

"Man, Gajeel. When did you become this protective?" Gray asks, doubling over in his own laughter. I can't help but notice and feel relieved that the topic has changed.

"I don't know, man. Shut up," he ends, blushing even harder while keeping his face in a scowl. I don't know how he does it.

I swear, Gray starts tearing up when he says, "dude, you sound like Natsu when he talks about Lucy!"

Wait, what?

"Yeah!" Gray grins. Great, apparently I said that out loud, too. "You guys are hooked!"

"Shut up," I sit up and say through grit teeth. Gray snickers as if to say, told you so. "I'm not even her boyfriend..." I mutter.

"You keep saying that, numb skull. Just stop complaining," Gray rolls his eyes. Maybe it's just me, but his sentence sounds unfinished.

After composing himself, Gajeel finally stands up, "I think it's time I get back to my own dorm. I mean, this is my last night with it to myself. Might as well enjoy it, you know? See ya." He waves goodbye, and exits our room, leaving behind some kind of empty space.
