"Welcome to the practice arena 44, or it's more commonly known name, 'The Forest of Death'."
I gulped as I stood next to Wakako and Kyo, "This place is kinda creepy..."
In front of us was a huge arena like space surrounded by a large fence. From what I could see past the big barrier was the darkness of the forest ahead. For a split second I could feel fear beginning to flood in me.
"This place doesn't scare me!" Naruto yelled at Anko. Anko smiled at him. Then in a flash she threw a kunai at him, scarring his cheek. I growled at her as blood began to pour out. How dare she hurt Naruto like that!
"Here are somethings I need to pass out before we start," Anko declared after she left Naruto alone. She held a bunch of forms. "They're consent forms that state that if you die in there, it won't be my responsibility. So this is an ultimate survival test. Each of you will get a 'Heaven' or 'Earth' scroll. And to pass you must meet at the tower in the middle of the arena with both scrolls."
"This means 13 teams will fail..." Wakako muttered, nervously. Kyo gave her shoulders a squeeze, "We'll pass! We're definitely strong enough!"
Anko continued, "You will have 5 days to complete this, and you need to find your own food and shelter. But you need to watch out for all the deadly beasts, carnivorous plants...and each other..."
I took in a deep breath. Looks like this might be almost like a fight to the death to pass. I scanned the groups of shinobi around us. Most of them were practically twice our size. Not only that, but they looked like they were ready to fight and kill to make sure that they passed.
Or that might have been just the way their faces looked.
"Now there are three ways to fail. One: if you don't make it to the tower without both scrolls. Two: if one of your teammates are killed or injured to the point that they can't function. Three: you cannot look inside the scroll, no matter what. Only until you get to the tower you can. And you cannot leave the arena during the 5 days."
After this, all the groups split up as each went into a hidden booth to receive a scroll. As we were waiting, I sat under the shade of a tree. "This seems like it'll be hard." Wakako confessed.
I nodded in agreement, "We need to attack either right away, like exactly as we get into the arena because people will be most shaky and will not expect an ambush right away. Or we attack on the last day since everyone will be tired. By the second or third day, the ninjas will be used to being in the forest, and will most likely have traps and plans set up." I told them my plan.
"Let's attack in the beginning, because if we wait until the end, there's a chance that there won't even be a team that will have the scroll opposite from us." Kyo replied. That thought didn't pass my mind and I nodded thoughtfully. That was definitely a good point. We all nodded to each other as settled on our game plan.
"Hey (Y/N)! Good luck!" Naruto ran up to me with Sakura and Sasuke.
"You too!" I replied, "I hope we have the same type of scroll, otherwise you guys wouldn't be making it."
"Are you saying you can take the scroll away from us?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow at me with a smirk on his face.
I grinned devilishly, "That's exactly what I'm saying."
Sasuke chuckled and I gave him a questioning look. "Well, I want to fight you," he explained, "I'm interested to see what the outcome would be."
"Obviously, Sasuke-kun would win~"
Ino popped up behind me and tackled Sasuke. Sakura opened her mouth to yell at her but then decided not to. I smiled at her, at least now I won't have to be in the middle of two fangirls fighting.
"Are you kidding?! (Y/N) would beat Sasuke in a heartbeat!" Kyo countered.
Ino cackled, "Yeah, right! Sasuke-kun's way to strong! He was number one rookie in our graduating class!"
"So was (Y/N)!" Kyo retorted.
Ino's eyes widened as she remembered that piece of information. "Oh yeah... Sasuke-kun would still win~"
I sighed, placing a hand on Kyo's shoulder. "It's no use anymore."
He nodded slowly, almost as if he was still ready to fight.
"Are you talking about who would win if Sasuke and (Y/N) fought?"
We turned to see Rock Lee, Tenten, and Neji come walking towards us. Rock Lee was muttering to himself, "Well, I fought Sasuke, and I guess he was pretty strong, but I haven't fought (Y/N), but she's a member of the Hanninzowa clan and they're one of the genius clans...Hmm, I would have to say (Y/N) would win..."
"I can hear you!" Sasuke said, with an irk mark on his head.
Rock Lee sheepishly rubbed his head. "Oops...What would you say, Neji, Tenten. Who would win?"
Tenten sighed, "How can we decide if we never seen either of them fight?" Neji nodded in agreement.
Rock Lee shook his head, "They're right..." He muttered to himself.I laughed, "Well, then I'll have to fight you guys soon!"
Neji smirked, "Maybe we will in the Forest."
I returned his smirk, as his cheeks dusted with pink. "I hope we do!"
Wakako then tugged at my shirt. "It's our turn to get our scroll." I left everyone and headed to the hidden booth. We turned in our papers and received a 'Heaven' scroll.
"Who'll hold it?" I asked them.
Wakako handed me the scroll, "You're probably most capable! (Y/N) you should have it!"
My eyes widened as I accepted, "You think I am?" They nodded and I broke into a big grin as I hugged my squad. "I love you guys so much!"
......
My squad and I stood at the arena entrance. "You ready?" Kyo asked as he prepared himself. Wakako and I nodded.
"Remember the game plan." I said, "We need to find an 'Earth' scroll right away, and head for the tower."
The arena gates then creaked open, and we ran into the Forest of Death.
