= aannndd now finnally caught back up lol

Daeva stared at the slowly cooking fillet he'd been preparing the past few hours. His thoughts adrift and never settled on any one. Part of him wondering how Casimir sold his old home so quickly but Daeva chalked it up to his prowess. Or influence. Or threats. He really wasn't sure and would not ask. The wolf had gone through all the trouble to help him move. Both of them. One of Pitch's spare rooms turned into a dark room for his work and another for his office. And despite the knowledge that he now lived with a devil, Daeva had never felt calmer. Finally, surrounded by a sort of peace and protection away from judgement. Well, if you excluded Pitch criticizing his wardrobe and replacing half of it with what he insisted suited Daeva better. The rabbit didn't exactly mind though.

Neither wolf nor the servants so much as batting an eye when he went to do something that his family would have scoffed at him for. Whether it was cooking a simple meal or cleaning up after himself. Shade showing more interest in his work than Casimir though the golden wolf never frowned upon him for it. Shade always poking his head into Daeva's office if only to smile or ask how he was doing. Fawning over the latest photos and always insisting being the first to read his next article. Even when it was still unpolished Valko appreciated it. Giving some feedback here and there but always so polite. So considerate. Daeva loved it. Loved him.

"What ya makin' bunny," Shade said as he wrapped his arms around the smaller's waist and kissed his neck. "Smells real nice..."

"I-I am attempting a fillet with some of that salmon Casimir purchased the prior week. The recipe was simpler than I thought it was."

"Aw, shame he ain't here to try it." Shade rubbed his snout against Daeva's jaw. "Poor guy stuck in meetings all day. But not to worry, I'll eat it for him!"

Laughing, Daeva transferred the fish to a plate, cut a bite off then offered it to Shade. "I made enough for you both. But...tell me what you think?"

Shade's ears perked, and he plucked the fish off between his teeth. Giving a soft hum as he thought before nodding. "It's great bunny. Maybe add a squeeze of some lemon juice and I'd say good to go."

Tail wiggling, Daeva prepared a plate for the two of them and set Pitch's portion inside a container. The duo eating in the peaceful quiet once he'd added a few squeezes of lemon.

"Ya know, I don't think big grumpy took any sort of lunch with him. He might appreciate some food brought over."

"Oh?" Daeva cocked his head. "I thought we weren't allowed inside his workplace? And couldn't he just pop in here and eat then return?"

"He probably could but he'd also always around people. Pitch wouldn't have enough time to just disappear and he doesn't enjoy using his energy for doubles. Besides, I bet the guards would let ya right in."

"What? You won't come along with me? What if they do not allow me inside?"

"Just tell them who you're seeing. Knowing them they don't want to call Casi during his busy days and risk his grouchy side." Shade ruffled his hair. "And nope, not today. I have to run a few errands so I'll be busy. I can walk ya half way though. Go put something nice on. It'll be a little surprise for him."

Daeva wasn't sure what he meant by that but his face heated, anyway. Swallowing back his nerves and speaking, "D-do either of you even need to eat?"

"Not as often as ya mortals but yes. We can find sustenance in other ways, however. Plus food tastes amazing and I'd never turn down a meal." There was a gleam in his eyes. A secret he wasn't about to tell.
