-|- Monaco -|-
It was a few weeks and a race later. In Imola I had some media appointments, I really tried to make them right, but Christian hadn't been satisfied with me. He was still angry, not often showing it though.
Only as I had taken a quick break to look after Luka and Lio, he had shouted at me, told me that I should get a baby sitter, that I wasn't their dad to look after them every minute. It had broken me and old Max had probably yelled back. But current Max was too weak for that.
That was also the reason why, now back in Monaco, Daniel had invited me to a gym session. I really didn't want to go, especially as it would only bring back memories of me being there with the kids and Charles, but he insisted.
Speaking of the Monegasque, I hadn't talked to him since... well, since the 'accident'. The damn accident in which I had crushed my lips on his, so desperately that he could have gotten intimidated by my action.
It was stupid and dumb and I still had no idea why I had done it. Last week in Imola he even wanted to talk to me, probably only so he could laugh at me, so yell at me or worse. But I had always managed to rush into the RedBull garage before he was close enough.
I also had blocked his number on my phone, too scared about a text from him. I knew it was crazy and stupid what I was doing, but I couldn't handle any more bad news. I had to start a new life, make Luka and Lio happy and not make their life even worse.
They had found a friend or mate in Charles and I had taken that from them, I couldn't repeat that. Luckily Daniel had been around us a lot lately and they started liking him, so their questions about Charles got less and less.
When the Aussie had been at my apartment a few days back, he had even talked to my neighbor, a old friendly woman, and asked her, to watch the kids today. Of course she had agreed and also Luka and Lio were beaming about it, as she had a cute little dog they loved every time we met her in the corridor.
So now that she was watching them, I was here with Daniel at the gym. Luckily it was Tuesday and no one was here, most of the athletes still at their weekend destination or still resting from it.
"How about we start with running or biking to warm up?" the Aussie asked, big smile on his face.
"Well, I probably can only do two or three minutes." I mumbled embarrassed as I knew my whole body was fucked, my muscles all gone, my bones peaking through my skin.
"Bullshit, I will show you how fit you are." Daniel returned, pulling his shirt over his head, "So shirt off, I want you to see the process."
"Is that really necessary?" I asked annoyed, still grabbing the hem of my shirt, cause I knew if Daniel wanted something he would ask me as long as he would get it.
"Sure it is, now come on, on the bike with you." he commanded and I sighed, still having to chuckle a little.
It was really sweet how he looked after me and was there, knowing that I had a rough time. I was really thankful for having him in my life, still hating myself for having not texted him during the winter break.
So without arguing I took a seat on the bike right next to his, starting to cycle. A memory flashed through my mind as I remembered sitting on that exact same bike a few weeks ago. My eyes automatically glanced over at the mirror and the weights, seeing Charles and the kids standing there.
He had been so cute, showing them what to do and it had really been adorable how Luka and Lio had followed his words and actions. He was great with them and I still hated myself for taking that from them.
