The calm after the storm felt like a fragile illusion. As the first light of day filtered through the trees, Natsuki and Karasu walked side by side, the weight of their journey settling in. The world around them seemed to be healing, but there was a quiet undercurrent of uncertainty.
Natsuki :- “We did it, Karasu.”
Natsuki murmured, almost as though she was trying to convince herself. Her fingers lingered in Karasu’s, the warmth of his touch a grounding force as the reality of their situation began to sink in.Karasu nodded but didn’t speak right away. His thoughts seemed to be elsewhere, and Natsuki could sense the silent conflict in him. His gaze was distant, as if searching for something just out of reach. He finally spoke, his voice low, serious.
Karasu :- “There’s something you need to know, Natsuki,”
he began, his tone more solemn than she’d ever heard it.Karasu :- “While we sealed the rift, it’s not the end of our story. The damage… it’s not just in the worlds themselves. It’s within us, too.”
Natsuki’s heart skipped a beat.
Natsuki :- “What do you mean?”Karasu stopped walking, turning to face her fully. His eyes were filled with a strange mixture of sadness and resolve.
Karasu :- “The rift’s energy—it’s connected to our bond. What we did... to seal it, it pulled from both of us. We’re bound by more than just love now, Natsuki. There’s a price to pay, and I’m afraid it’s not something either of us can escape.”
Natsuki’s breath caught in her throat. She knew that love wasn’t without its sacrifices, but she hadn’t expected something like this.
Natsuki :- “What will happens now?”
Karasu sense the worry, tension in her words.
He hesitated, then took her hands in his, the seriousness in his eyes never wavering.Karasu :- “We have a choice, Natsuki. We can live out the rest of our lives together, but the bond we share, this connection between our worlds… it will continue to draw from us. We may never truly be free from it. Or…” Kasaru pause for a while.
Natsuki’s pulse quickened as he trailed off.
Natsuki :- “Or?”
Karasu :- “Or,” Karasu said softly, “one of us can break the bond. Return to our own worlds and live a life without this weight on us. You’d be free of it, and so would I.”
Natsuki felt the ground beneath her feet shift, like she was standing on the edge of a precipice.
Natsuki ;- “You’re saying… we could separate?” Her eyes filled with sadness
Karasu nodded, the sorrow in his eyes palpable.
Karasu :- “I don’t want that, Natsuki. But I can’t ignore what this bond is doing to us. To you. You’ve been through so much. You deserve a life free from this conflict. And maybe… maybe I do, too.”
Natsuki’s heart wrenched in her chest. She had fought so hard for this love, for this connection, and now she was faced with the possibility of losing it. Her mind raced, torn between the overwhelming desire to stay with Karasu and the need to let him go, if that would give them both peace.
Natsuki ;- “I don’t want to lose you,Karasu ” she whispered, the words breaking free before she could stop them.
Natsuki :- “But I also don’t want either of us to suffer.”
Karasu stepped closer, his voice filled with quiet intensity.
Karasu :- “We don’t have to choose right now. We can take time. Think about what we really want, and what’s best for us, for both of us.”
Natsuki’s chest tightened as she looked into his eyes, seeing the same pain mirrored there. She wasn’t sure what the future held, but for the first time since the rift had been sealed, she felt a sense of clarity. No matter what decision they made, they had to be sure.
And so, they stood there together, the world around them shifting in the aftermath of the storm, both unsure of what the future held—but certain of one thing: they would face it together, for as long as fate would allow them.
