Friends, what a joke. People like to talk about friends like they're some kind of treasure. Like you find one, and suddenly life's supposed to get easier, better, less violent, or whatever.
I don't get it. I've had friends. I've killed friends. I've been betrayed by friends, and I've had to pick up the pieces after they got themselves turned into shredded meat. Funny thing about friends, they're either there when you need them, or they're the reason you need 'em. They pull you into their mess, and before you know it, you're buried up to your neck in someone else's nightmare.
So you keep your distance. You keep your hand on your gun. You don't get too attached. The fewer people you trust, the fewer people who can screw you over. Simple. I've been through enough of this world to know one thing, friends don't save you. Only you can save you. And if you're lucky, you can take out a few of your so-called friends on the way.
Did you seriously start writing in your journal in the middle of a banquet?
Kiba: There you are. I was looking for you.
Legend: The crowd is large. I was having trouble finding you myself.
Phoenix: Who is this?
Legend: No one hostile. Yet.
Kiba: Please excuse my intrusion lady—
I see now. You don't like it when others call Phoenix Lady Phoenix. I'd say you're jealous, but I know that's just your way of keeping things close. Too close if I might add.
Legend: Quiet. Where's the rest?
Kiba: I assume you are more interested in knowing about your daughter.
Phoenix: Did I hear that right? You have a daughter?
I was wondering how you would explain that to Phoenix.
Legend: Long story. Tell you some other time.
Kiba: I'm sorry for saying but couldn't you dress up nicely? This is an important event, you could've at least worn a suit.
Legend: Suits are for nerds. Now answer my question.
Kiba: I don't know. Rias, Koneko and Issa are missing. The rest are chatting with Lord Sairaorg.
Legend: Saio what now? Why do devils have such strange names?
I don't think you should be talking.
Phoenix: So the rumors I heard are true. You do hang out with the crimson princess.
Legend: Is that jealousy I hear?
Phoenix: Just your imagination dear. I hope Venelana didn't get the upper hand on me.
If only she knew.
Legend: Think I see Issa. And Koneko.
Kiba: You do? Where?
Legend: I'm going after them. Something isn't right.
Phoenix: Wait! In a few minutes the candidates who are running for the presidency will step up.
Legend: Then go instead of me. And by the way, we are not sticking with Phoenix's democratic party. Change it to The Phoenix Progressive Party.
Hoe come you suck at giving names but are a poet when it comes to titles?
I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about this. And usually when I do then something bad really is happening. I went after Issa and to my surprise Rias decided to do the same, but I didn't reveal myself just yet. They got into an elevator, so I went after. Forcing the doors to open and jumping on top of the elevator. They didn't seem to be bothered by the thump heard above them, which is exactly why they could get easily killed.
