♣ Henry Smith ♣
A smile was plastered on my lips the entire time.
As I registered my name, returned the greetings of the workers, entered the elevator with a worker (who was trembling like he just met with death), and got out to my office.
The smile didn't leave my face even when I walked in to be greeted by tons of work I should've completed yesterday.
“Good morning sir,” Mrs Fila greeted, entering my office, “may I ask what the reason for such a smile is?”
What else could be the reason than the beautiful wife I had.
I wasn't sure if I understood how things changed between us, but I loved it either way.
The night we'd had sex was probably to be tagged as the best night for me, because I hadn't expected it.
When she came to the room, I was surprised, but my entire body yearned for her.
When I sensed that she wanted the same, I knew it was an opportunity that mustn't be wasted.
And once I noticed she wanted to leave, a teeny bit part of me warned me to just let her leave so I don't rush things between us.
But the desire bubbling in me was far more than whatever teeny bit.
I found myself aching to be in her. It was such a strong desire, I had to hope she'd leave soon.
But then, like she could sense what I felt, she stopped by the door which was enough for me.
I couldn't control myself anymore and just rushed to her.
“Mr Smith?” Mrs Fila snapped me back to reality.
“Hmm,” I stared up at her raised brow expression.
“Uh…” she shook her head like she was saying I-don’t-even-want-to-know, “I've got good news sir,”
“Really?” I wasn't sure if she could give me any news that'd make me happier than knowing Marie was starting to fall for me.
That was the best news I could be given.
“Yes,” I hadn't realized she was holding some files till she dropped it on the desk in front of me.
“So, last month,” she started, “you asked me to contact the Corner Company for a business deal,”
Nodding, I stared down at the papers, “did they reply?”
“Yes,” she continued, “yesterday when you left work early, I got a call from their secretary and he said they were willing to offer a contract with us.”
“Wow,” that was obviously good news as the Corner Company was the biggest company in Asia, so doing a business deal with them would amount to a lot.
Especially in this time where our company was in a possibility of incurring a loss. Any amount we gained at the moment was important.
My brows drew together in unexpectant when I noticed how much we could make if we were to sign a contract, “fifty million dollars?”
“Yes, we'll not only gain fifty million dollars, but the Henros products would be sold in their company with a fifty fifty share,”
“Wow, and what do they gain?”
“We sell their products in our companies all around with the share being sixty forty,” she explained.
That was a great opportunity, because not only were we going to gain fifty million dollars and fifty percent of the gain from our products.
But then we'd also gain forty percent of their products being sold.
That would be marvelous. “This really is good news. When are we signing the contract?”
“Next month sir,” she adjusted her glasses.
“That's—” my phone pinged from inside the pocket of my suit, “one sec,” I retrieved it, a smile taking place on my lips when I noticed who'd sent me a message.
Marie- Hey, how're you? Just wanted to check on you. Hope I'm not disturbing.
I sent her a reply immediately.
Me- How can I consider a message from a beauty a disturbance when it is in fact a blessing.
Marie- Hmm, since it's not a disturbance, I'm going to use this to ask if you had anything to eat before leaving.
I'd left home early today since I got home very early yesterday and didn't complete the work I needed to complete.
Though Mrs Fila had offered to do so, I was also sure she wouldn't be able to finish half of it (since it was really much).
Which is why I had to leave without eating.
Me- Apologies, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to eat.
Marie- -Eyeroll Emoji- I should've expected that from you. You don't take care of your health.
Me- I'll try. Have you had anything to eat?
“I think I should take my leave now sir,” I had forgotten about her presence till she spoke, causing me to turn to her.
“Oh yes, you should take care of the contract and all,” I quickly dismissed her so I could continue chatting with Marie.
She obviously understood, because she packed the files in her hands, then after a small bow, left.
I turned back to see Marie had sent me a reply.
Marie- I'm eating a plate of yam.
Me- Well, I guess I'll order a plate of yam also.
Marie- You should eat well alright? Don't overwork yourself, and come home early so you can sleep well.
Marie- Also have breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can have something in between.
Me- Because you said so, I'll certainly do it.
Me- I've also got good news about the company that I'm going to share with you.
Marie- Really? Can't wait.
Me- Take care.
Marie- Alright. Bye.
Me- Bye.
I dropped my phone on the desk, wishing I could chat with her for more time, but also aware that I had tons of work to complete and if I didn't do them, I might have to over over work myself.
Which she told me to not do so I planned on not doing that.
Because she said so.
