Chapter 26: Cookies of Darkness Interlude
While Kirby and his friends were enjoying a nice rest from all the fun they've been having, little did any of them know something's been happening within the shadows.
Far off in the continent of Beast-Yeast, the Cookies of Darkness were hard at work with a new dark plot. After Pomegranate Cookie had introduced Dark Matter to Dark Enchantress Cookie, the wicked Cookie had become completely enthralled by the parasites and their dark powers, to the point where she wanted to know more and see how they could benefit her goals.
However, one little Dark Matter was only capable of oh so much, thus a plan was devised for the Cookies of Darkness to collect more and keep them- as well as Gooey- somewhere secluded.
Therefore, Gooey and the Dark Matter were brought to the most suitable place to house them all, one of their many Cake Towers that was connected to the Laboratorium via a line of sewers.
The tower was known as the Sweet Sinking Cake Tower, having gotten that name after what used to be the first floor sunk beneath the ground, after that incident it was remodeled and given a fancy door for what was now the first floor, hoping this floor wouldn't sink too. Since it was connected to the Laboratorium, and relatively secluded, it was the perfect location to house and study Dark Matter. Though to keep the illusion that they were on the good side to Gooey, they had to transfer him to the tower separately from Dark Matter, and they put him on one of the higher floors for good measure.
It was the perfect headquarters for this plot, and it was the exact location Licorice Cookie was just arriving at after having captured some more Dark Matter with the assistance of his lackeys.
Upon arriving, Licorice Cookie pounded at the door to the entrance for the other members of the Cookies of Darkness to let him in.
"Coming, coming!" Red Velvet Cookie called out as he walked to the doorway and opened the large door ajar "Welcome back, Licorice Cookie. I see your latest expedition for Dark Matter was success-"
"Stop talking and let us in!!" Licorice Cookie demanded, gripping onto a jar that held a very manic Dark Matter inside.
"Oh, right, apologies."
Red Velvet Cookie opened the door fully, letting Licorice Cookie and Schwartzwälder storm in.
"Ugh!" Schwarzwälder grunted, setting down two large barrels he was carrying, said barrels contained more Dark Matter inside, having been trapped within them by Licorice Cookie, who also cast a spell onto them to prevent them breaking free.
"Choco Werehound Brute go take nap!"
"Mmmmrrr..." Bat-Cat groaned in agreement from atop Schwarzwälder's head, the feline hybrid looking pretty rough.
Watching the two head up the stairs that led to the many floors within the tower, Red Velvet Cookie turned to Licorice Cookie. "I take it this expedition was a bit more rough?"
"I'll say! This one," Licorice Cookie tapped on the glass of the jar, causing the Dark Matter creature within it to hiss in response "managed to get a hold of dear Bat-Cat, and we had to force it out of my poor sweet pet! The little parasite was tough however, and it made Bat-Cat's attacks sting more than they usually do!"
"Did it now?" asked Pomegranate Cookie, walking over from across the room and approaching the two Cookies "Did it happen to also change Bat-Cat's appearance while it was possessed?"
"Eh, sort of, it just made Bat-Cat a lot bigger with way nastier looking eyes. At any rate, Schwarzwälder managed to knock them down and I captured it with the jar once it emerged from Bat-Cat's body."
