I nervously paced along my deck as I checked my phone every few seconds. Shouldn't she be here by now? What if she didn't show? Was she the type of person to stand me up? I wouldn't blame her - who wouldn't?

I ran my fingers through my hair and continued to pace. It was ten minutes after she was supposed to swing by my house to talk. I was able to talk to her after finding out that I was no longer blocked. After hours of trying to convince to talk in-person, she finally agreed to meet me at my house. I had a lot of apologizing to do.

My heartbeat spiked as I heard the latch to my fence slowly come undone.

I froze in my spot as I stared at the girl that started it all.

"Hi, Mel," she half-whispered. "Long time no see."

"Just stay a little longer, please?" I mumbled as I tightened my hold against her. I turned my head to breathe in her sweet scent once more that was mixed with the exertion of our excitement. I kissed her temple gently and used my other hand to move her light blonde hair out of the way.

"Mmm, I can't," she stilled as if contemplating my request, then kissed me lightly on the lips before getting up. I watched as the covers slid off her slim shoulders, which disappeared from view when she started pulling her bra back on.

I sat up as I watched her dress herself for the third time this week. This was how it always was. It started when I witnessed her silently sobbing to herself over in the school bleachers. It was after school hours when I decided to go for a longer run. I didn't expect to see her small figure hunched over as she furiously wiped away the tears. I had to stop. After an hour of comforting her, those moments turned into texts.

The texts turned into car rides.

The car rides turned into kisses.

And the kisses turned into her giving me warmth in my bed.

But it always ended with her leaving. The reasoning was always the same.

"Lily gets back from her match in about an hour. I promised we'd get Indian food." I felt the familiar tug of jealousy in my chest as I reached over to grab my shirt from earlier. I tugged it on, already feeling cold. This was the worst part.

I don't think I expected to like Haley this much. I never thought I'd be caught in a situationship with someone already in a relationship. There was a part of me that loved being in her company, but another was ashamed for being the other person threatening the relationship.

"I-I think she's cheating on me..." Haley's sad voice echoed in my mind as I remembered reaching out to hug the stranger.

That's how it all started. I fell upon Haley when apparently she found another girl's lipstick in her long-term girlfriend's car. After that, the two apparently didn't talk for a while, which resulted in Haley and I becoming closer.

Then, they got back together.

"She said it was because she had to drive her teammate home after an away match. It was a misunderstanding." She explained while she kissed along my spine.

Then, they broke up again.

"Actually, I think she is seeing someone else. I picked up her phone the other day and she freaked out - said I was being paranoid and there wasn't any trust anymore - Mmm, that feels good." Haley breathed out while I licked her earlobe and ignored all of the red flags.
