I lead forward. The last thing I heard was a snap. Blackness rather than the glowing lights blinded my eyes.

I felt my chest pounding.

"Lyla, are you okay?"

"Yes-"

I said breathy and it was clear I was not there fully.

Billie Squeezed my hand.

"It's okay."

I smiled warmly at him.

I pulled off the highway which led into a roundabout leading us right towards Gilman.

The boys walked in and I followed but Billie stopped me and said he wanted to talk before we went inside. So we walked back to the car.

"I know something in the car happened."

"Billie, I'm Fine."

"You always say that and then it becomes something bigger like binge drinking for 2 days straight or like when you almost fucking killed Lena Randal."

"Those were both only one-time things."

I said rolling my eyes. My arms crossed.

"Y'know Lyla, I know that you get hung up on things. I know you keep replaying it in your head. I know it's been stuck there."

"Billie stops, I don't want to talk about it."

The idea of remembering that night in the car was more than enough. I honestly wanted to talk about it but I didn't need to get Billie even more anxious than what he was.

"I don't want you stuck on it, I want you to enjoy tonight okay?"

"Billie, I will, But it's your guy's night, not mine okay, My night can be night Saturday okay?"

He covered his face with his hands and shook his head laughing hiding a smile.

"What?"

I said confused half laughing back at him.

"You're the only reason we have a band. You're the woman behind the magic, the writer, the caretaker, the chauffeur, and of course the mom of the group."

"I am not the mom of the group!"

I defended myself.

"So, not the point to take."

"Fuck off, you're the one who said it in the first place!"

I punched him.
I opened my car door and we walked into Gilman together. There was a band up on the stage performing and we looked over the crowd of people for Mike and Tre, who seemed to already have found their prom dates.

"How much you wanna bet that girl will be in the back of my car tonight?"

Billie Snickered back at me as we walked over to Mike and Tre, He grabbed ahold of my waist and pushed me forward through the people. I placed my hands atop his wrists.

Mike and Tre introduced the girls to us; Brittney and Sara. I decided I would stick with these girls during the show. They seemed nice and I didn't wanna have to do the work of actually meeting new people. Billie hugged tight me before the guys went to grab Blue and Mike's bass.

"You're the reason we're here."

He told me before they left.

"So Lyla right?"

"Yea?"

I nodded.

"How long have you and Billie been going out?"
