Sam, Colby, Hope, and Ron found themselves settling into the living room of Godric's Hollow, with the camera set to capture them and the cosy setup around them. The place was super warm and inviting, thanks to two big stone fireplaces Hope had already lit up to take the chill out of the air. Each fireplace was nestled in a wall of rustic stone with thick wooden mantels above, covered in little picture frames, a few plants, and some candles adding a soft glow.
A big, light-coloured sectional sofa curved around the middle of the room, filled with a bunch of comfy pillows in neutral tones that practically begged you to sink into them. A sturdy wooden coffee table sat in the centre, with even more candles casting a warm light over everything. There were books neatly stacked on a lower ledge by one of the fireplaces, adding a cosy, lived-in feel like someone had just left them there after a quiet night in. The whole setup felt inviting, like the perfect spot to kick back and take a breather before diving into whatever mysteries this old house might hold.
Somehow, Hope found herself sitting on the sectional next to Colby, with Ron across from her beside Sam, so they were all facing each other. The setup felt casual enough, but Hope couldn't ignore the little tingle that shot up her leg when Colby's thigh brushed hers accidentally. She'd been trying to keep her attraction under wraps since she first met him—Colby had this magnetic charm that was hard to ignore. But she knew better than to let herself get too close. She had her reasons, the kind that weighed heavily, and the last thing she wanted was to risk getting hurt again.
Besides, she'd learned a lot from Sirius about her father, and if there was one thing she'd picked up from her family's history, it was that Potters didn't do love halfway. When they loved, they loved fiercely, almost painfully. And with everything she'd lost, loving that deeply again seemed like a risk she wasn't sure she could take.
"This place is probably the homiest home I've ever been to," Colby said, shaking his head as he looked around the room in awe. The camera captured everyone's reactions, each of them taking in the room's cosy, lived-in charm.
"And this is what it looked like back when you were in hiding?" Sam asked cautiously, glancing over at Hope. She nodded, her expression softening as she thought about it.
"Well, obviously, I was only a little over a year old back then—fifteen months, to be exact," Hope explained, biting her lip in thought. "So when I decided to make this place safe to live in again, I asked my godbrother's grandmother to oversee everything. Augusta Longbottom has been a friend of the Potters for ages. Even though this wasn't the ancestral Potter house, she still knew every detail, like she could walk through it with her eyes closed."
"And is this the first time you've really been back here?" Colby asked softly, not wanting to push too hard. He'd grown so fond of Hope over the past few days, and even as he and Sam prepared to head back to America soon, he hoped they'd all stay in touch. Maybe, with a bit of luck, things between him and Hope could one day be something more than just friends.
