Percy
"Why did you agree to this Nico?" I asked while trudging through a swamp is some random place in the wizarding world. "We needed answers and I thought it would be a quick shopping trip." "I say this with love, why would a goddess make a task easy?" Will asked, "we are doing her a favor by saving her world?" Nico replied. "That doesn't mean anything," I said while moving a branch out of my way and accidentally whacking Annabeth who was behind me. "Really seaweed brain?" Annabeth rubbed her forehead that was forming a bruise. "Wait! I can move the water out of our way!" I stated and began moving the water. "Percy you aren't even wet," Annabeth pointed out while gesturing towards the bottom of my jeans. "Sometimes I forget about that stuff."
After an hour we found the magical slugs Hecate requested and we were off to our next location.
A random cave
This cave of course wasn't an empty cave, no that'd be too easy. It had a gaping hole in the floor that was so large we couldn't see across. So that meant no shadow traveling. "Can anyone fly? Will, Annabeth either of you have an unknown power you conveniently discover now?" Both shook their heads 'no.' I took out Riptide for some light which only showed that the hole was a lot larger than we initially thought. "Some of the stones are sticking out on the side. We could use those to climb across." Annabeth suggested. "I don't want to die today," I sassed. "Then don't fall. Besides it's not like we have much other options." "Nico, would you like to shadow travel us?" I asked. Before Will could protest Nico spoke up. "I'd love to except I can barely see across and there's no shadows over there."
So, here we are climbing across the gaping hole. Everything was going smoothly my arms were getting tired but so far so good. That should've been my first sign. I heard Annabeth scream and looked to see what it was. Standing on the same stone Annabeth was holding was a black widow. I was still holding riptide so with Riptide in one hand and holding on to the cave wall for dear life I tried to swing at the spider. Unfortunately that made me start to lose my balance. I felt my palms sweat and adrenaline rush through me. Suddenly the walls started moving or was that just in my head? My thoughts started racing.
Where's the nearest stone?
Is the darkness getting closer?
Can I reach that stone?
I'm still on the wall.
My feet are still in place.
Why can't I keep my grip?
Is that Tartarus?
I can't go back.
Where's Bob?
Images of Tartarus raced through my mind and I felt my breathing get faster. Was that my breathing or someone else's? I could smell sulfur in the air. I could feel the endless falling. "Percy, we're in tatarus!" I heard Annabeth say.
"Percy!" I heard a voice call from the distance. I turned to the voice and noticed it was Will he had one hand on my back and was glowing. "Put Riptide away, and grab hold of a stone," the son of Apollo said gently. I put Riptide in pocket and began moving again. Annabeth looked at me worried and I mouthed, "tell you later," to her. She nodded in understanding.
Finally after what seemed like hours we made it across. Just to be greeted by a hellhound. Quickly we began fighting the monster. I ran at the Hellhound slashing and stabbing at it. Nico, Will, and Annabeth followed suit. I slid under the hellhound stabbing it turning it to dust.
After a quick check for injuries we all were good and continued onwards to find the stupid magic ingredient. "I feel like we are walking in circles. Nico opinions?" I look at the son of Hades. "I didn't get that power don't ask me," he replied. "Ssh do you hear that?" Annabeth shushed us. "No but I feel water nearby." "I hear water," Will replied. Annabeth nodded and pointed to a cave hall way next to her. We went down the hall and half way through we saw crystals growing out of the cave wall. Slowly they began to shine brighter and brighter.
"She said she needed purple ones," Annabeth reminded us. Unfortunately all the ones we kept finding were blue. Which usually I wouldn't mind because blue is the best color. Right now though we need purple. After thirty minutes of searching we found one purple one. Nico put it in his bag saying, "five more to find." "Yay, only three more hours in this cave!"
I was wrong it didn't take three hours it took five hours. Five hours of tripping over crystals, cutting ourselves on sharps rocks, getting dust in our eyes, and coughing from the dust inhalation. Then we got to go across the giant hole again and try not to fall. This time there were no spiders. We finally made it out of the cave and I ran to a tree and hugged it. "I'm never going back in cave," I decided aloud.
"Next up is magical tree sap collected by a celestial bronze blade at sunset," Nico read out loud. "That is oddly specific," I stated. "The Womping Willow!" Annabeth shouted. "The womping Willow is a magical tree. We better hurry back it's almost sunset." Nico grabbed our arms and shadow traveled us back to Hogwarts. Much to Will's dismay.
The womping Willow looked peaceful for right now. "So what's the plan to get sap without pissing it off?" I asked. "Run in and hope for the best?" Nico suggested clearly not ok with his plan. "Good enough for me!" Annabeth was about to protest this plan and Nico was trying to explain he was joking but I ignored them both. If you are wondering what Will thought he said nothing and got out his first aid kit.
The tree began swinging its branches and whacked me a few times I swung my sword at the branches which did little to nothing but I did make it the trunk. I stepped on a nob by accident. I flinched expecting the tree to hit me for that but instead it stopped moving. "I killed it," I thought to myself. Annabeth ran up to me asking me how I calmed it. "I think I killed it," I answered her. "No, I can't really tell with plants that well but I don't think it's dead," Nico assured me. I quickly collected the sap from the tree and ran back to where Will was sitting with the first aid kit.
"Sit down I'm checking you for a concussion." Good news is I had no concussion. Bad news is I still had to help get this stuff to Hecate.
Nico shadow traveled us to Hecate's location. We gave her the stuff and she checked over all of it to make sure it was exactly how she wanted it. "Good, now one last thing," she said. "I want you all to go get some ice cream from Diagon Alley tomorrow and offer some of it to me. I love the ice cream there and you simply must try some. Offer some to me of course. Now, good luck on your little quest thing." With that she flashed us out of her sight and back to Hogwarts.
"What was that?" I asked the others just shrugged.
Sorry for not posting in awhile. Also I'm writing this late at night so sorry for the errors. I'll fix it later. I'm going through and editing the unedited chapters soon. Thanks for reading! Also, I saw Wicked today. It was amazing.
