Senator Risa stood on the Senate grounds, visibly furious as she scanned the area. Her eyes narrowed, searching for someone she had been watching carefully, but not for the reasons others might think.
"Why isn't she here?" Risa muttered under her breath, the irritation clear in her voice. "Is she really that scared of being memed again on social media?"
She turned to her secretary, who stood quietly beside her.
"Ma'am," the secretary started, "Ms. Alice didn’t attend today because she had to go to court. She wasn't allowed to come to the Senate session, ma'am. That’s why she’s absent."
Risa’s face contorted into a mixture of disbelief and frustration. "Oh, God..." she exhaled, half in resignation, half in anger.
I want to scream. I really do. She should be here. She should’ve come. I should’ve been the one to handle the hearing today, not tomorrow. Why the hell is this happening?
Senator Risa paced back and forth in her office, her thoughts clouded. The absence of Alice had only made her more restless, more frustrated.
Her mind replayed their last interaction, the way Alice’s eyes had glimmered with something—something Risa couldn’t quite place.
The door creaked open, and Risa looked up, startled to see Alice standing there, her presence filling the room like a storm. The sharp, intelligent look in Alice’s eyes was unmistakable.
"Ms. Guo," Risa said, her voice barely hiding the tension. "I didn’t expect you to show up, not after what happened."
Alice’s lips curled into a half-smile, one that wasn’t entirely friendly. “Did you think I would hide forever, Senator?”
Risa’s breath caught in her throat, feeling a strange mix of relief and annoyance. She stepped closer to Alice, feeling the space between them charge with an undeniable energy.
"I didn’t think you'd be afraid to face me," Risa said softly, though her eyes betrayed her desire for Alice to prove her wrong.
Alice tilted her head slightly, as if considering Risa’s words. "I’m not afraid," she replied, her voice low and provocative. "But I am curious about how far you’re willing to go to get what you want."
Risa’s heart raced, her gaze never leaving Alice’s. "Maybe I’ll show you just how far."
Senator Risa’s gaze intensified as she took a step forward, her eyes locked onto Alice’s with an unspoken challenge. Without waiting for a response, Risa moved quickly, pressing Alice onto the couch with a firm, controlled force.
“Did you lock the door?” Risa asked, her voice low and commanding.
Alice’s lips curved into a wry smile, her defiance not dulled by the situation. “Of course. I know you well enough, don’t I?” She didn’t break eye contact. “You’re damn well pretty, Risa. I’d obey you if I wanted to.”
Risa’s breath caught slightly at Alice’s words, her pulse quickening, but she masked it with a cool, almost mocking smile. “Silly you, Ms. Guo. You didn’t listen to my invitation, and now you’re here.”
Alice leaned back into the couch, her body languid, but her eyes sharp. “My body? You want my body, Senator? Sorry, I just needed to go to court. And about the spy thing… was that a joke, or do you really believe it?”
