The other students in school (besides Dib and Gaz) didn't know Zim was alien, they just believed he was a freak. Of course, occasionally, they began to suspect that Zim wasn't human, but Zim usually came up with some half-brained solution to convince the idiots he was 'human.'
When Zim first arrived, he didn't have any friends, which of course made everyone suspicious. Zim took on a friend named Keef, but that quickly went south when Keef became obsessed (and crazy), and Zim was forced to get rid of him.
A while has passed since then, and the other students began to suspect Zim wasn't human again. Having only one friend for one day? That's insane.
Zim 'befriended' you. He never invited you to his home (base), and he never went to yours. You two were friends in school only, just to appease the other students.
Zim didn't do much to get to know you, you were just a tool to him after all. Of course he believed his ruse was working, and that the only ones who knew he was an alien were Dib and his sister Gaz. He believed you were just as stupid as the rest of the people in this town.
You two were sitting in the cafeteria. He was complaining about the food, as he did every lunch. He looked down at his tray of food and grimaced.
"Eugh! I don't know how you filthy humans eat this slop! It's disgusting!"
For someone trying to pass off as human, he wasn't very subtle sometimes. He really took advantage of everyone being stupid.
