You woke up in a strange old house. It was cold and still quite dark. You sat up, very confused.
"You finally awake?" A voice asked from nearby.
You looked over to see the same demon that had saved you before. You started to tremble again out of fear and found it hard to answer. What did he want with you? Was he saving you for himself? Was he gonna eat you now? Why did he bring you here? He was a demon and your grandfather had told you many times not to trust them. You continued to tremble out of fear but stayed silent.
"Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." He said, gently resting his hand on your shoulder.
You still shook quite a bit. "Why should I trust you?" You asked, you found yourself trying to say it as politely as possible even though he was a demon.
The man just sighed and walked away. "You can leave if you want to." He pointed to the door.
"So that's it? You're letting me go?" You asked, still quite scared.
"I don't have any reason to keep you here." He replied.
"Not even for food? Don't demons eat humans?" You questioned.
"I prefer not to eat women." He answered.
"If you don't mind me asking, why not?" You shook a little less but were still very scared.
"I just prefer not to." He responded, sighing.
"So you're really not going to hurt me?" You wondered, confusedly.
"No." He replied.
"W-what's your name?" You asked, dangling your legs off the edge of the bed.
"Akaza." The man answered.
"Hello, Akaza. I'm Maiko." You greeted, trying not to sound scared even though you were still shaking.
Akaza smiled slightly.
"Wh-who was the other guy? The one that tried to..." You started to tremble a bit more remembering how close his teeth were to you and how sharp they were.
"Doma, Upper Two." Akaza replied. "U-u-upper two?! I was that close to..." You held your head, starting to feel light headed again and trembling more.
Akaza walked back over to you and gently rested his hand on your shoulder. "Are you ok?"
"I... could. Have. died." You mumbled, kinda more to yourself.
Akaza just stood there, not really knowing what to say.
You took a deep breath to help you calm down, though you were still shaking.
"Your katana's over there if you want it back." Akaza pointed over to a shelf where your katana was resting.
"Thank you." You smiled ever so slightly and stood up before walking over and grabbing it off the shelf. You looked at it for a moment before growing a bit sad. "The village is probably a mess... right?" You sighed.
Akaza nodded. "Doma always leaves everything messy."
"Then where do I go?" You mumbled again as you walked back over and sat on the bed once more.
"You can stay here if you want, you'd just have to get your own food." Akaza replied. "There's also a town not too far from here."
"Really?" You asked in disbelief.
Akaza nodded, smiling slightly.
"Thank you... really." You sighed. You glanced down at your sword again, wondering if your grandfather was alive. Suddenly you started to feel a bit tired.
