The gunshot shattered the silence. When one bloodsucker tried to escape, a bullet struck the wall nearby. Another shot followed, killing the man along with two of his companions.

"This gun is just as effective as the sword of death. But instead of burning you to ashes, your body will rot. How pathetic!"

Marius scowled at the bloodsuckers inside the hall. They were afraid of him, afraid to die, and that's exactly what he wanted—especially now that they had failed in their task yet again.

"One simple weapon... a mere child outsmarted and defeated you, even though you're a hundred years older than him."

"He's fast, Marius," one of the men said. "The boy used the full power of the weapon."

Marius turned to the man, suddenly intrigued. "Who is this boy?"

"We don't know," the man replied. "But you wouldn't believe it if you saw him yourself. They were just too many for us. Some of us were lucky to escape the protection they placed around the school; otherwise, we wouldn't have returned to tell you this."

Marius paced, glaring at the men. "That should have given you a clue about the key!"

"Then what is this key?" another of the men asked.

Marius laughed as he turned to face him. "You've just proven how foolish all of you are. You almost had the key!"

"What about the boy we captured?" one bloodsucker asked. "Should we return him now, or turn him into one of us?"

Marius's eyes blazed with fury. "You are all useless. How could you not recognize the kid? You must not touch him. Do you want to face the wrath of his father?"

He raised the gun in rage and pulled the trigger repeatedly, frightening the bloodsuckers around him. Then he let out an ear-splitting cry.
