The bright sun of Konoha bathed the streets in a warm glow as Ugetsu made his way toward the village's gates. He had received word from Kakashi that Mei Terumi, the Mizukage of the Hidden Mist, and her trusted bodyguard Chojuro were arriving to discuss matters of great importance. The news had stirred excitement within Ugetsu's chest. It had been a while since he had seen them, and he was eager to reunite with the people who had trained him and played a key role in his growth.
As Ugetsu approached the gates, he spotted Mei Terumi standing with Chojuro. Mei's beautiful figure was unmistakable, her long, crimson hair flowing in the breeze. Chojuro stood loyally at her side, looking as serious as ever. When they noticed Ugetsu, they both gave a welcoming smile.
"Ugetsu!" Mei greeted with her usual warmth, her radiant smile lighting up her face.
Ugetsu's face broke into a mischievous grin. "Well, well, look who it is. The Mizukage herself," he said, his tone playful as he stepped forward. "And here I was thinking you'd be too busy to pay a visit to little ol' me."
Chojuro rolled his eyes at Ugetsu's usual teasing, crossing his arms over his chest. "You never change, do you?" he muttered, clearly used to Ugetsu's antics.
"Ah, Chojuro," Ugetsu teased, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Still clinging to Mei like a lovesick puppy, huh?"
Chojuro's face turned a shade of red, and he growled, "That's not—!"
"Careful, Chojuro," Ugetsu interrupted, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "You might get a little too protective. I'm not planning on stealing your thunder."
Mei couldn't help but laugh at the exchange, her cheeks turning pink at the light-hearted jab. "You two never stop, do you?" she said, shaking her head in amusement. "But I've missed you, Ugetsu. It's good to see you again."
Ugetsu's smirk softened for a moment, and his gaze lingered on Mei. "You look as beautiful as ever," he said, his voice warm and sincere.
Mei blinked, caught off guard by the compliment, her face flushing a deeper shade of pink. She cleared her throat and quickly averted her gaze, trying to regain composure. "You've been practicing your charm, I see," she said, her voice flustered.
Chojuro scowled, his hand gripping the handle of his sword slightly tighter, though he kept his frustration in check. "Enough of that, Ugetsu," he muttered under his breath, his words carrying a hint of jealousy.
Ugetsu chuckled softly, enjoying the playful tension between them. "Relax, Chojuro," he said, his tone still teasing. "I'm just having a bit of fun."
Mei, ever the calm one, took a step forward and cleared her throat. "Well, now that we're all here, I should let you know why we came," she said, her voice serious. "We have some important matters to discuss. I'm sure Kakashi has already informed you, Ugetsu, but we've received troubling news from Madara Uchiha."
Ugetsu's smirk faded, and his expression grew more serious. "Madara Uchiha?" he asked, his brow furrowing. "I thought he was... gone?"
Mei's expression hardened. "Apparently not. Madara declared the beginning of the Fourth Shinobi War. It's already in motion."
The weight of her words hit Ugetsu like a hammer. His gaze turned dark, his mind racing. A war... It felt like everything was spiraling out of control once again.
"Since the Hidden Mist is joining the fight, does that mean my clan will be involved?" Ugetsu asked, his voice laced with uncertainty. He had grown up in the shadow of his clan's dark legacy, and the thought of them being involved in another war made his stomach twist.
Mei's gaze softened, and she shook her head. "Your clan will not be involved," she said quietly, her voice carrying a somber tone. "Chigetsu... He laughed mockingly at the thought of joining the war. He's not the type to get involved in these kinds of matters. It's been that way for as long as I've known him."
