1989's POV
The brutal clash with reality on Monday morning was stronger than I expected. I came to school sleepy, in a bad mood and completely unprepared for anything.
Of course I did my homework but honestly I barely remembered anything that happened during classes or at school in general. I haven't talked to Midnights since we both got home on Sunday afternoon. All in all, I think we were fed up with each other and needed some time alone...especially after all this.
I felt so bad and... I don't know after Midnights' confession. Every time I saw Karma in the hallway when I entered school, my blood pressure rose and I barely managed to keep my nerves under control.
I know it's the past, it happened a few years ago and Midnights kept telling me to forget about it...but for God's sake! She did hurt her and I don't know if I can let it go.
"Are you even listening to me?" Speak Now asked, leaning next to my locker as I pulled out my textbooks.
"I do" I responded as if snapped out of a trance and slammed the locker door shut, making a screeching metal sound. Speak Now grimaced covering her ears.
"Then what was I saying?" she raised an eyebrow. I looked at her with a silly smile. "Hilarious" she put on a fake offended face and crossed her arms as she walked towards the English classroom. I laughed and followed her.
"Anyways, how's your girlfriend?" Speak Now asked, nudging me with her elbow and smiling defiantly.
"Quiet!" I replied looking around hoping that no one had noticed as Speak Now had literally shouted that question that I was sure the other side of the world could hear it.
"Why is this such a secret? You are so obvious, come on" I rolled my eyes. It's not a secret, definitely not a secret.
"Give it a rest" I felt the blood rush to my cheeks and a small smile crept across my lips.
"Did you do something slutty?" Speak Now looked at me, playful smirk appeared on her face.
"God no!" I shook my head in disbelief, feeling a wave of heat.
"You're blushing!" Speak Now pointed her finger at my face and I grabbed her hand by the wrist and moved it away. At that same moment the bell rang and everyone started going into the classroom.
"That's because you're embarrasing, bye!" I replied as I walked away and Speak Now smiled broadly, clearly pleased with herself.
"You have to tell me everything!" she yelled, flipping her blonde curly ponytail and disappearing into the English classroom.
I quickly walked into French and took my seat, TTPD waved at me, smiling. I also smiled and opened my textbook when the teacher started the lesson. Midnights of course wasn't there yet.
I tried to focus on the lesson but my eyes kept wandering literally everywhere. I tapped my nails against my knee completely bored and giving up on trying to concentrate.
"Sorry, I'm late, it will never happen again" I looked up at Midnights when she said it casually, rolling her deep blue eyes.
Her hair was well messy again, which was a bit of a change from the weekend.
The teacher just shook her head out of habit of Midnights being late, and she was clearly pleased.
"Hi" I said with a soft smile as she sat down next to me, her perfume tickling my nose. Midnights glanced at me briefly.
"Hi" she replied coolly, her lips curving into a faint smirk.
"You look tired" I whispered, leaning slightly closer so the teacher wouldn’t hear.
