The atmosphere inside the tent was heavy, the echoes of war still reverberating faintly outside. Jungkook held Taehyung close, his trembling hands cradling his omega's fragile frame. Taehyung's arms wrapped tightly around Jungkook's shoulders as he buried his face into Jungkook's neck, tears soaking his husband's tunic. The relief of being reunited after the harrowing ordeal threatened to overwhelm them both.
But then, with a sudden urgency, Taehyung pulled back, his tear-filled eyes locking onto Jungkook's. His voice, though weak, carried a desperate edge.
"Stop the war," Taehyung pleaded, gripping Jungkook's arms.
Jungkook frowned, confusion flickering in his dark eyes. "What?" he asked, his tone heavy with disbelief. "Taehyung, you need rest. We can talk about this later-"
"No, Jungkook!" Taehyung interrupted, his voice rising despite the weakness in his tone. "I'm fine now. There's no need for war anymore. Don't let innocent people suffer."
Jungkook's jaw tightened, his expression hardening as anger flared in his eyes. "Fine?" he repeated bitterly. "Taehyung, look at yourself. You're barely holding on. They dared to touch you, to hurt you. You think I can let that slide? No," he growled, his tone laced with venom. "I will burn their dynasty to the ground for what they've done."
Taehyung shook his head weakly, tears streaming down his pale cheeks. "No, Jungkook. Don't let the cycle of hate continue. You don't have to do this. Think about our child. We can't let them grow up in a world filled with war and vengeance. And the people. What about innocent people's who caught in this?"
Jungkook's hands clenched into fists, his knuckles whitening as he struggled to keep his emotions in check. "They tried to kill our child, Taehyung," he said, his voice dangerously low. "Do you think they'll stop if we show mercy? They will try again, and I will not give them the chance."
Taehyung inhaled sharply, his chest heaving as he struggled to speak. It was right though. He also didn't want any harm for their child.
Jungkook's gaze darkened, the memory of past pain flashing across his features. "It's not only this time. They attacked Goryeo when my father was king too. They are the reason my father is dead," he said bitterly, his voice cold and resolute. "I've waited for years to crush them. And now I see why Yuna always held me back. She was never loyal to us---she was with them all along. She killed my father."
Taehyung gasped softly, his heart sinking at Jungkook's words. "She... killed your father?" he whispered, his voice trembling. "But Jungkook-" He stopped, hesitating as his thoughts raced. His mind replayed the events of the past few hours, his encounter with the woman in the forest.
"She's not your mother," Taehyung said suddenly, his voice firm despite his exhaustion.
Jungkook's expression twisted with bitter disbelief. "She's not my mother," he echoed darkly. "She lost that title a long time ago, Taehyung. Everything she did was an act---a betrayal."
Taehyung shook his head, urgency building in his voice. "No, Jungkook. She's not your real mother. She never was."
Jungkook replied. "I know now."
Taehyung's grip on Jungkook's arms tightened. "Where is the woman who was with me before?"
Jungkook blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift. "In-yeop took her," he said cautiously. "She was injured. Who is she?"
Taehyung's eyes shone with an intensity that belied his weakened state. "She's the real Queen Yuna. Your mother, Jungkook," he said firmly. "The woman who's been by your side all these years, the one who betrayed you---she's an imposter."
