isabella looked around at all the drunks teens looking for nat. The party was used to collect all the money for the game, everyone would put a dollar in then it would eventually all add up in the end.
"dollar" isabella fwlt somone shove a pot into her chest, she look at who it was and saw her friend ray hall. "you giving a dollar or not" "be patiant" she said reaching into her pocket "any idea on how many people are playing" she asked while putting her dollar in the pot "yeah, quite a few people are. good luck"he said and walkked away.
"isabella" she saw Heather Nill come up to her. heather waas sone of natilies friends, bella and her have talked a few times but they wefent nesasearily friends, heather was you typical quiet girl, and bella was in the popular crowd.
"hi heather, you okay?" bella asked "have you seen nat" heather said lookih around "no i just got here, i can tell her you were looking for her if i see her" heather thanked bella before walking back over to sit next to biship. 
once again she was elft alone looking for people, that was untill she shawna.
"shawna!" bella ran up and hugged her "bella hi!" the two were very close, but they hadnt had a chance to propelry talk to eachother in a few weeks. "ive missed you, how are feeling" shawna asked pulling away from the hug. "yeah im good, hown about you" "all good" shawna replaied "i dint see you at the seramony. you did graduate right?" bella gave her a stern look "yes i did, some of us just decided to blow it off" bella chuckled shaking her head not being surprised. "let me guess, it was you, ray and tyler" "actually adam was there too" shawna gave a bella an 'i told you so' look "oh my bad" bella put her hands up.
they had been sat talking and catching for a while when sahwna decided to bring up the game. "your not playing are you?" she asked, worry clear in her voice. bella didnt know if she worried because of the dangers of the game, or if was worried that bella was only playing to get justice for jimmy. though bella would nevr tell anyone, she knew she was playing to get a win for jimmy, do the thing that he never had the  chance to do. 
"i am" bella stated "what about you?" isabella asked shawna "id ont know yet" shawna said sounding unsure. "well you better make adecicion, ity could start any minuite" "any idea who the judges might be?" shawna asked bella, bella looked around at all the drunk teen ariund her before answering "no clue"
The next day came around and bella was walking around the town doing her daily errands when she saw the diner that dodge worked at and decided to stop by. she took a seat at the counter "you need a menu" dodge asked her holding one up "yeah" she said a dodge gave her the one he was holding, she thanked him and started looking through it. "what's the best" bella asked as she skimmed through the menu "for a day like today, probably a lemonade" he replied leaning on the counter Infront of her "then ill o that" she smiled ha ding him back the menu while he went to et her drink for her.
"i know there was no bet" he said sliding her drink over to her. "what bet2 she asked confused taking a sip of the Icey drink infront of her. "the bet you had with your dad, the one you told me about yesterday" 
"ohh yeah, that. no there is a-" bella started before getting cut off. "i know about the game, im not stupid. iv heard people talking about it and i know your playing" he said leaning on the counter again. "maybe" she said biting her lip nervously "are you?" she asked "yep" he nodded "not the smartest thing for you to do" bella said swirling around the straw in her drink "how come" he looked confused and also offended, bella noticed the offence he had taken from her statement. "i mean, no offence-" she started "some taken" "sorry, all i mean is that your new, you know nothing about the game. i mean it dangerous, people have died. and now the cops want the game done, they catch us and then they'll arrest us" "wont dad be able to get you out of that" he said looking her in the eye "he could, but he wouldn't, he would be so pissed if he found out i was playing"
"why don't you tell me about the game" dodge asked "i would, but not here. too risky" bella said looking around and finishing off her drink. "okay, why don't you meet me back here at closing" he took her empty glass from her as bella thought "okay" bella said standing up the stool she was sat on. "its a date" dodge said as bella left the diner. 
closing time had come around and bella came back to the dinner like she said she would. she nocked on the glass door and dodge came to let her in. she took a seat at one of the tables as dodge took the across from her.
"so, what do you want to know?" she asked him "how may people died in the game?" he leaned on the table waiting for the answer as bella tried to find the right words. 
that was not the question she was expecting, she was expecting the simple one like, how many challenges are there or, how many people play, she was not expecting him to ask her how many have died. she knew she would struggle to answer, the topic of the lives lost to the game was tough topic for anyone but she had lost someone to it her brother and his girlfriend. her brother  was her best friend he was her her favourite person, they were so close and it was all taken away from her over some stupid game. abbey was like a sister to her, she felt as is she could talk to her about anything, and she knew she wouldn't tell anyone. the couple were always there for isabella, weather she needed to talk to, help with school work, a shoulder to cry on or even just someone to have a laugh with. she never thought that would be taken away from her until it was all gone. all in the same year, the same summer and to the same game. losing them had broke her, she didn't know to keep going without them.
"you okay?" dodge asked her, bella nodded in response and before she could answer the question she heard fire works. they both looked back at the window in unison seeing them all go off. bella looked back at dodge knowing what they meant.
"its starting"
