Chapter ninety

"You're not gonna die."

Arriving at hilltop, the guards looked down at them "open the gate!" they voiced, opening it up, Scarlett pulled on the reigns, as horses walked forward, bringing the wagon inside, she then stopped it, as they all got out, Kelly came running up as Connie ran toward's her, Henry walked over to Carol hugging her, Ezekiel then walked up as Henry hugged him as well, Carol then pulled away "and you." she said, walking up and hugging Daryl, Ezekiel turned and looked at Scarlett, Judith, Caroline, Daryl and Rick, dog was sitting in front of them "Scarlett.." he said, walking over.

"I know, I, um..I've been going through a lot and it's not excuse but.." Scarlett shared, as her and Ezekiel shook hands, Carol walked up looking at all the kids "we've got Judith, Caroline, Daryl and Rick." Scarlett shared, as Carol chuckled, looking like she was gonna cry "do you remember us?" she asked Judith "I've been drawing pictures of you since I was little. You're Carol, and you're the king." Judith shared, as Carol chuckled "I thought her hair was shorter." Daryl shared "it was." Carol shared, as Tara walked up she stopped, looking to them all "the plan was to bring Henry. Just Henry." she shared.

"Tara wait.." Scarlett told her, crouching down to her kids "why don't you guys and dog go start enjoying the fair, okay? Mommy will catch up with you." she shared, as Judith, Daryl, Caroline and Rick began running off "come on, dog!" Daryl voiced, as dog barked following after them, Scarlett stood up and stepped toward's Ezekiel and Carol "we need to gather the leaders. We have a lot to talk about." she shared, as Carol and Ezekiel furrowed their brows.

Having gone into the auditorium, Daryl and Gabriel joined them along with Rachel from oceanside, Tara from hilltop and Ezekiel and Carol from the kingdom, although as Scarlett looked around the room, she remembered the last time she was here was with Rick and Carl, as she standing on the stage, she looked down at where the two had stood "Scarlett?" Daryl asked her "sorry." Scarlett told him, looking to them all "I..I'm sorry. Since things happened I haven't seen eye to eye with anyone. And I became cold and distant. Because I thought that by keeping my family behind our walls or at least close by that I was protecting them and my people. But also in a way was protecting myself because us standing here like this is what my husband wanted for us to come together and all it did was remind me that he was gone. And standing in here seeing as last time I was he was right by my side it's not an easier. But I'm trying." she shared.

"We've taken an informal vote with the others council members at the fair, and we all agree. Alexandria is willing to grant asylum to Lydia. She's one of us now." Gabriel shared, as Henry and Lydia were sitting in there "we hope that the rest of you can join us in doing the same." Gabriel shared "thank you. I'll do whatever I can to earn my keep and pay you back." Lydia shared "if her mother retaliates, it's gonna be against hilltop, not alexandria. I have to do right by my people. I thought we were on the same page." Tara shared "we haven't been on the same page in a long time. And you don't get to talk seeing as you were on the other side of the gate with the governor the day I thought my husband died." Scarlett shared.

"I was gonna kill you on sight when I saw you wash up on our shore." Rachel shared, as Tara looked to Lydia then back at them "okay, okay. Fair." she told them "Lydia didn't choose where she came from, but she chose where she wanted to be. Just like all of us." Scarlett shared "I left some of my best fighters at hilltop, but if Daryl's right about these skin job numbers," Tara shared, scoffing "it's not enough people." she added on "we should take a group to hilltop to protect em, just in case." Daryl shared, looking up at Scarlett "that's a good. I'll take some from the kingdom." Carol shared.
