Chapter eight eight
"I'm a monster." 



Being back in alexandria, Scarlett had found out exactly why Rosita and Eugene had been out there as she stood in front of a radio communication system, Laura, Aaron, Siddiq, Michonne and Gabriel were in there "so does everyone but me know about this?" Scarlett asked "just Eugene and Rosita. We would've told you if we had found someone out there but we didn't." Gabriel shared "and you also have no idea who could've been listening out there." Scarlett shared "we weren't being carless with it." Gabriel told her.
"Wasn't being careless? They went out set up this relay and got hunted by walker skin wearing freaks who almost killed them. And to get them back safe Jesus was killed by one of them. And for someone in the past few days I can't even leave without strangers being brought into our home or Negan off all people getting out of his cell and breaking into my home with my kids in it! I can't keep us all safe if everyone keeps hiding things from me!" Scarlett voiced "we gave you the power to veto the council based on security concerns." Michonne shared.
"But now everything is a security concern. So our votes don't matter anymore unless you agree with them." Gabriel shared "well seeing as everyone likes to disobey me and put my kids in danger maybe their shouldn't be a council anymore!" Scarlett voiced "just because you wanna cut yourself off from the rest of the world doesn't mean the rest of us have to.  Who are we supposed to turn to when we need help? We can't be so worried about finding enemies that we lose our friends." Gabriel shared "they're not my friends!" Scarlett voiced, as Michonne stepped toward's her "it's okay. It's okay." she whispered to her, putting her hand on her shoulder.
"We did lose a friend. Look, we all set out with the best intentions, but that doesn't change what happened. There's a new enemy out there and they're exactly what Scarlett was afraid we'd find. I don't regret the time I spent out there with Jesus..I don't. And what happened..maybe it would've happened anyway." Aaron shared "maybe." Gabriel said "but now we know what's out there, and we can't pretend otherwise. We put Scarlett in charge of security for a reason. Her judgement has saved us time and time again." Aaron shared "yes, but at what cost?" Siddiq asked, as Scarlett looked to him "you of all people don't get to say that! I could say the same thing about bringing you back, and it cost my sons life! So whatever your about to say that's really none of your business! So shut up!" she voiced.
"We saw Carol when we were at the hilltop." Siddiq shared, as Scarlett lunged toward's him, Michonne held her back "and she told me that she tried asking Scarlett for help with the fair again, and she said that you blatantly told her no." Siddiq shared "you spoke on behalf of alexandria?" Gabriel asked her, as Scarlett looked to him "so what if I did? Everything she wants is old business." she shared "yes, but we have new information. Look, the fair starts the day after tomorrow, and it's not too late to reconsider." Siddiq shared, as Scarlett glared at him "Carol says that the situation at the kingdom is far worse then Ezekiel let on in his letter. They're to isolated and they need the trade that his fair will bring." Siddiq shared.
"The kingdom can take care of itself. They always have." Laura shared, as Siddiq looked to her "Carol wouldn't ask for help a second time if it wasn't serious." Siddiq shared "I motion the council take a second vote on the kingdom's fair." Nora shared "to what end. She'd just veto it." Gabriel shared "damn right I would." Scarlett shared, breaking free of Michonne's hold "not only are the roads broken and dangerous. But there are walker skin wearing freaks out there who want us dead. If things were different we could've helped..I mean you all can go against me and vote the live long day to let whoever you want in here! But Ezekiel was stubborn the day we met him and he's just as stubborn now choosing to stay in a home that is falling apart and I will not risk anymore of our peoples lives for it!" she voiced.
