Chapter Fifteen: A Promise Between Hearts
Jungkook arrived at his palace just as dawn began to break over the distant hills, casting a faint light that crept through the grand windows, softening the castle's stone walls. His thoughts were as deep as the shadows that lined his halls, yet within his heart, a gentle ember stirred, a warmth he had long buried in darkness. It was her, Y/N, who had awakened it, unknowingly drawing him back to a part of himself he thought was lost.
The moment he entered, the creatures of his kingdom gazed in astonishment; the cold, distant prince had returned with a smile they had not seen in years. His lips curled subtly, softened by a memory only he could see, as he moved through the corridors, passing unseen faces whose astonished murmurs filled the quiet halls. Jungkook was different, alive in a way that made even his servants blink in disbelief.
Without a word, he slipped into his studio, his sanctuary of shadows and colors, his haven for all unspoken words. He studied the brushes, his gaze falling to the blank canvas that awaited him, trembling with anticipation. Today, he needed no dark inspiration, no shadows to paint. Tonight, his muse was a living light, a rose he had plucked from fate itself.
He seized a brush, his fingers steady as they dipped into delicate pastels, sweeping strokes across the canvas with quiet fervor. A soft blush of pink, a glimmer of dawn, each touch of color laced with the lingering traces of her presence. His hand moved with an elegance and purpose he had nearly forgotten, the lines taking shape until her figure emerged, wrapped in hues of a soft sunrise.
Jungkook's intense brown eyes, now a burning red, glistened with concentration and devotion. They traced her silhouette, alive with gentle grace, her form wrapped in roses, her gaze serene as if lost in some quiet happiness. When he finally set down his brush, he stepped back, breath catching at the sight of her, so vibrant, so beautiful, a goddess beneath the glow of a painted dawn. He whispered under his breath, "Beautiful..." His voice, quiet and reverent, seemed to fill the room.
A soft knock interrupted his thoughts, pulling him from his quiet reverie. He turned just as his closest companions entered the studio, each one captivated by the sight before them.
"Jungkook..." Hobi spoke first, wonder filling his eyes. "This is... breathtaking." He patted Jungkook's back with a warm smile. "You've outdone yourself."
Yoongi nodded, a rare smile breaking across his face. "This might be your finest work yet, Jungkook."
Taehyung, grinning, reached out to ruffle his hair. "It's good to see the old Kookie back. We've missed this side of you."
Jungkook chuckled softly, trying to hide the shy blush coloring his cheeks. "Don't mess with my hair, hyung!" He mumbled, but a playful glint sparkled in his eyes.
"It's thanks to her, isn't it?" Jimin teased, rolling his eyes affectionately. "If it wasn't for Y/N, you'd still be ripping someone's neck in some dark corner."
