Chapter seventy three
"They're gonna hit back." 



Rick's breathing was shaky, as he brought the walkie up, pressing down on the button "north, west, south, report." he said, letting go of it "we..we have to go. If he got out. He's gonna.." Scarlett shared, her words coming out shaky "come on." Rick told her, putting the walkie down, the two quickly moved to the ladder, heading back down, they regrouped with Jadis and them as they were walking down the road, they all had their guns, keeping an eye out for anything, they walked up to the sanctuary, seeing all the dead walkers.
"Different from picture." Jadis shared, as machine gun fire rained down on them, Scarlett and Rick ran to the left and ducked for cover and as they did "Jadis! It's coming from the window!" Rick voiced, as Scarlett scoffed "she's running away." she shared, as her and Rick saw Jadis and what was left of her people run off, the gunfire still could be heard, followed by a car approaching "go. Go!" Rick voiced, as Scarlett hopped over it, Rick followed her, as the two laid down fire, they then got in the back of the car with Carol and Jerry, as they began to be shot at, Rick put his arms around Scarlett "go!" he voiced, as Carol backed out of there.
"They got out. It hasn't been long. We have to warn everyone. They're gonna hit back." Rick shared "we can get the cars near the east lookout and split up." Carol shared "we might have to find other rides. The snipers probably used their's to get away." Jerry shared "I don't think they got away." Rick shared "but who would do this? You said you had a.." Scarlett shared, and when she did, she remembered how Daryl didn't follow after her "Daryl.." she said, letting out a breath "yeah.." Rick told her, as he pulled her close to him "thank you for coming for me." he whispered to her "the moment I got that letter I knew. I wasn't gonna leave you alone with her ever again." Scarlett whispered, as Rick leaned his head on top of her's.
Rick and Scarlett had gotten another car, as the two were driving back, it was dark, neither of them were saying anything, making it there, the two got out of the car, only to find the gate torn down and the entire place on fire, as they walked inside, they had their guns up, as they ran toward's their house, hearing explosions in the distance, as Rick opened the door, he stepped in, as Scarlett followed the two looked left and right, as Scarlet quietly shut the door behind them.
Rick walked forward "Carl." he said "Judith. It's me. It's mama." Scarlett whispered, knowing even if something was wrong, she would let her know, where as they walked forward, Rick then got kicked in the stomach, as he fell down, Scarlett's eyes went wide "this shit isn't funny anymore." Negan shared, going to swing his bat on Rick, Scarlett brought up her machete blocking it "who's laughing?" she asked, as Rick crawled out from underneath her "I got plans  for you and your husband. Cut you up into little bitty pieces and feed you to the dead, and make you watch." Negan shared.
Pulling back his bat, Scarlett kicked her foot up, sending him backwards, she stumbled back, as Rick got up and caught her, the two back away "then when your both some sort of screwed up, creepy stump with a head.." Negan shared, stepping toward's them and swinging, Scarlett brought her machete up again blocking it "god, would you just shut up." she shared "nope!" Negan voiced, pulling back the bat, Scarlett and Rick dodged his swing as it hit their dining room table, Negan chuckled "you know your kid took a page out of mommy's book and volunteered to die? He said, kill me, just like you did." he shared, as Scarlett kept Rick behind her.
"What kind of boy did you two raise? I'm gonna fix him. Cause I like him." Negan shared, stepping toward's them "a few years, he's gonna be one of my top guys!" Negan voiced, as Scarlett swung, punching him in the face "your not touching him!" she voiced, and as Negan swung back at her, Scarlett ducked, as Rick got punched, Rick then punched Negan back, as Scarlett cut him in the leg, she stood up, holding the machete out, Rick was behind her, as Negan charged at them, he knocked the two over into the shelf.
Scarlett put her machete back, as her and Rick looked at each other "when I am done with you two, nobody will ever try to do what you two did..not ever again! Not your friends, not your son.." Negan shared, leaning down to Scarlett, she turned around, cutting him in the face with her knife and as she did, Rick then hit him with one of the things that fell off the shelf, as Negan fell over onto the ground, Scarlett and Rick stood up, as Scarlett grabbed the bat, she brought the end of it down onto his face "aah! Don't you touch her!" Negan voiced "this?" Scarlett asked, throwing it across the room "no!" Negan voiced, going to kick her, Rick moved her behind him, as the two stood there, Negan then kicked Rick back, as him and Scarlett went back into the wall.
Negan then got up, as Scarlett pulled Rick's gun out of his holster she aimed it at him, as Negan ran toward's the both of them, the gun went off, as he sent the two flying out the window, Rick broke Scarlett's fall, as the two got up, running off, Scarlett handed Rick the gun as she put his arm around her shoulder and continued running "think..like Carl. What would he do. He wouldn't do the woods cause he knows that's where they'd look. So if he was gonna..." she shared, as she stopped talking "where?" Rick asked her, as Scarlett nodded "I know where." she told him, as the two continued walking.
Heading into the sewer, the two were walking together, where they soon found everyone but what caught their attention was that Carl wasn't there, as Rick pointed forward "that's..that's the man me and Carl saw." he told her, as Scarlett began helping him walk forward, the two passed everyone, Daryl's head was down as he was holding Judith, the two then looked to the man "I brought him here." Carl said, as Rick and Scarlett looked to the right, Michonne was next to him, as she stood up and moved out of the way, Rick and Scarlett walked up to him, crouching down "that's how it happened." Carl shared, lifting up his shirt, there was a bandage on the right side of his chest and as he pulled it off, there was a walker bite, Scarlett and Rick's eyes went wide.
