Beacon Hill was alive with energy as soon as we walked in. It was my first time here, and I was amazed. The campus was huge, almost like a small city, with modern buildings that had big glass windows. The ground was spacious, filled with game stands and carnival booths offering fun prizes. Food carts lined the paths, selling everything from popcorn and pastries to a variety of drinks.
"Thankyyyy!" Maddy said with a sassy playful tone as the barista handed us our drinks. I took a sip of my favorite matcha and couldn't help but giggle at how refreshing it tasted.
Today marks the first day of the open house event at Beacon Hill. Our school is taking part, so we have the whole week off.
I couldn't help but let out a small giggle as I glanced around. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves to the fullest. Students were all around, representing various universities. They filled the space, and many of them even resembled fashion models because of their amazing looks.
I'm dressed in a loose, knitted cream sweater that falls off one shoulder, paired with a matching beige mini skirt and black ankle-length combat boots.I let my long, beige blonde hair fall freely.
I think I look... just... fine. I'm not the insecure type though. I have some confidence, but I'm not really into styling like my two best friends, Maddy and Gigi, who always know how to style themselves perfectly.
We walked into the indoor stadium, where the opening ceremony was already in full swing. A high-ranking school official stood at the front, speaking to the crowd. The place was packed, with many students seated in rows of chairs facing the stage. I noticed a few heads turn in our direction, probably because we had arrived late and were just standing at the back.
Zach was on the phone, chatting away, his eyes scanning the room as if he was searching for someone or something. "Come," He ended the call and motioned for us to come with him, pointing to the balcony on the upper level of the stadium.
I hesitated for a moment, preferring to stay on the ground floor where I felt comfortable. But Maddy nudged me, encouraging us to follow Zach since he was our guide for the day. I could tell she was excited about the idea of getting a better view of the opening ceremony from up high, so I decided to go along with it.
We climbed the stairs, our footsteps echoing in the large indoor stadium. When we reached the upper level, a cozy balcony area opened up where we could watch the stage while enjoying a bit of privacy. It felt more private up here, away from the crowd below.
My steps slowed when I noticed familiar faces nearby. My heart started to race. It was Zach's group of friends. Almost everyone up here had been at Zach's party last month, the same party where Julio left me feeling ashamed, accusing me of spying on him in the bathroom.
"This is embarrassing," I whispered to myself, realizing that almost everyone up here had witnessed that awkward moment.
Zach and Maddy were quickly pulled into friendly greetings, and even Gigi exchanged smiles and waves too. Turns out she knew a few of them.
"Hey, Georgina!" A tall guy with a friendly grin greeted Gigi, giving her a light peck on the cheek. But then his eyes landed on me as I tried to stay half-hidden behind her. His eyes lit up with recognition, and he smirked, "You're here... Julio's little spy." He muttered just loud enough for everyone to hear.
The group's attention shifted to us, and my face flushed with embarrassment. But my eyes were instantly drawn to Julio, who turned his head at the mention of his name. He stood by the concrete railing of the balcony, casually leaning forward with both arms rested over the ledge.
