Ibrahim's car tore through the streets, the convoy of sleek, bulletproof vehicles trailing behind him like a line of obedient soldiers. The hum of engines and the occasional screech of tires underscored the storm brewing in his chest.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened, his knuckles white. Despite the betrayal he had believed Zara to be guilty of, the thought of her fragile form lying helpless in a hospital bed clawed at his very soul.
"Drive faster!" his voice laced with both fury and desperation. The security team responded immediately, the vehicles surging forward in perfect synchronization.
In mere minutes, the convoy arrived at the hospital. As soon as his car screeched to a halt, Ibrahim flung open the door, ignoring the bowing guards and the hospital staff startled by his arrival. His commanding aura filled the air, and heads turned as whispers broke out in his wake.
Nancy was already at the entrance, anxiously waiting to lead him. "This way, sir!" she called out, her voice trembling slightly as she hurried ahead.
Ibrahim stormed into the hospital, his sharp, decisive strides echoing through the hallways. The tension in his body was palpable. He didn't care for the stares or the murmurs. All that mattered was reaching Zara and fixing what he had broken.
But when Nancy pushed open the door to Zara's ward, a suffocating silence greeted them. The bed was empty.
Nancy froze, her breath hitching in her throat. "She was... she was right here," she stammered, turning back to Ibrahim. His face darkened, his eyes narrowing into slits.
"Where. Is. She?" His voice was a low growl, the words dragging out like thunder before a storm.
Nancy struggled to maintain her composure. "Sir, the doctors... maybe they moved her for further tests. Let me check," she said hurriedly, retreating before Ibrahim's searing glare could pin her in place.
Ibrahim's fists clenched at his sides. His breathing was heavy, his chest rising and falling like a caged beast ready to pounce. His patience, already fragile, was breaking apart.
Nancy sprinted down the hallway, spotting a doctor examining a patient. She grabbed the doctor's arm without hesitation. "Patient 206—Zara. Where is she? Did you move her for tests?"
The doctor looked taken aback by Nancy's urgency. "I was just about to visit her room. Her reports have arrived, and I needed to discuss something urgent. But..." she hesitated, "is she not in her room?"
Nancy's grip tightened. "No, she isn't. Are you telling me no one moved her?"
The doctor frowned in confusion. "That's impossible. No orders were given for her transfer."
Nancy felt her chest tighten. "What does this mean?"
"Maybe... maybe a nurse took her to the restroom or another room," the doctor suggested, her tone uncertain.
"Check now!" Nancy snapped, her voice laced with fear and frustration.
The two women rushed back to the ward. Ibrahim was pacing inside like a caged lion, running a hand through his hair and muttering under his breath. When he saw them enter, his eyes flared with rage.
"Where is Zara?" he demanded, his voice shaking the walls. "I asked you a simple question. Where. Is. My. Wife?"
The doctor hesitated, her eyes darting nervously. "IBRAHIM KARDAR? Is she your wife? S.. sorry Sir, I... I don't know. She wasn't moved by us."
"WHAT?" Ibrahim's voice roared, his tone making the doctor visibly flinch.
The doctor swallowed hard. "S-Sir, perhaps we should check the CCTV cameras. It's possible someone else moved her for an emergency examination."
Without waiting for a response, Ibrahim stormed out of the room, his towering figure commanding the attention of everyone in the hallway. He barked orders at his men to pull the security footage.
Inside the control room, the tension was suffocating. Footage after footage played, showing nothing suspicious—until Ibrahim's sharp voice cut through. "Stop. Rewind."
The team rewound the footage to a specific point. Two black-masked men, clad in hospital staff uniforms, were seen entering Zara's ward. Moments later, the feed cut off. When it resumed, her room was empty.
Ibrahim's jaw tightened, his eyes burning with unrestrained fury. "They've taken her," he hissed. "Someone dared to kidnap my wife from under my nose."
He slammed his fist into the table, the sheer force making the screen tremble. His men stood frozen, their gazes lowered.
Ibrahim's rage was volcanic, his voice a dangerous growl. "Find them. Find her. I don't care what it takes or who gets in the way. If she's harmed..." His voice broke for a moment before his anger flared again. "Burn this city to the ground if you have to, but bring Zara back to me!"
Nancy stood by the doorway, her face pale. "Sir... this is my fault. I failed to protect her. I—"
Ibrahim turned on her, his voice laced with venom. "You were assigned to keep her safe! How could you let this happen?"
Nancy's hands trembled as she spoke. "Sir, I tried. I begged her not to go to that cursed place. But she wouldn't listen. She said... she said she had to prove her innocence to you. Even she tried to commit suicide as she cannot see you loathing her. But then she stop herself and come up with this plan because she couldn't bear your hatred anymore."
Her words struck Ibrahim like a dagger to the chest. He closed his eyes briefly, the weight of guilt settling over him like a shroud. "She wouldn't have been in this mess if it weren't for me. I dragged her into this hell. I made her an easy target."
Nancy lowered her head, unable to meet his gaze. "Sir, she risked everything for you. She just wanted you to see the truth."
Ibrahim's voice softened for a fleeting moment, filled with self-loathing. "And now, because of me, she's fighting for her life in the hands of someone who wants to destroy me. But I'm no longer that weak boy, I will not let anything happen to her," he said furiously. His eyes turned turned red with burning rage.
He turned abruptly, his commanding presence returning. "Mobilize every resource we have. No one sleeps until she's found. Inform our government officials to keep tab on evert transportation. Whoever did this will regret the day they crossed me."
His men scattered to obey, while Ibrahim stood rooted in place, his mind a chaotic storm of regret and determination.
For the first time in years, the mighty Ibrahim felt powerless. And it was a feeling he would not endure for long.
