(LOVE me some semi-toxic artino)

The cold nearly blistered Shino's fingertips, breathing partially heated air into his hands as he let RikKu open their dorm door for the both of them. Not too gentle-man of him, however it was the least she could do after Shino had practically saved her ass from getting Chibi coven caught.

RikKu let them both into the dorm, Shino sighing fondly once the warm hit him and immediately he began defrosting. The lights were off in the dorm, a small illuminating glow from the corner being the only sign of life in the room.

RikKu must've noticed him first, glancing at Shino with an awkward look before whispering softly "Hi arty" as she walked speedily past the couch and down the stairs towards her room. Artemis hummed in acknowledgment at her, curled up on the couch with the tv playing however from his lack of glasses and visibly tired eyes he wasn't paying much attention.

This had became a semi-regular experience now. Ever since Artemis had found out about their vigilante business, and realised he couldn't convince them to stop, it became common that Artemis wouldn't sleep until he knew his dormmates had returned safely. At first it wasn't noticeable, Arty worked a part time job and took the evening hours so often came back late on some days, meaning he would just wait for his roommates to return.

However it became a bit of a problem when Artemis would wait for them every day now. Shino unzipped his jacket - still refusing to wear his chibi coven uniform, RikKu giving up with him now - and made his way to the couch next to Artemis. He grabbed a blanket from the side of the couch and sat in the available space.

Arty barely looked up at him, his eyes hardly open as he rested on the arm of the couch. He wore regular pyjama shorts with a sweater that was a few sizes too large, the neck so wide that it exposed one of Artemis's shoulders.

Shino wrapped one half of the blanket around himself, using his other hand to pull Artemis towards him and cover him with the other half of the blanket. He wondered how Arty wasn't freezing, until he remembered that the dorm was probably a lot warmer than outside.

Arty shifted slightly into Shino, his head on his shoulder as he tucked himself into Shino's side, his arm draping over his chest. Shino pressed a kiss into his forehead, one hand running through his hair, to the hair at the nape of his neck, to his clavicle to his exposed shoulder. Shino's hands gently ran up and down his shoulder in soothing motions, his frigid hands finally absorbing some of the warmth from Arty's warm skin and he took note of the small abundance of freckles that painted the skin on his shoulder.

Arty's breathing shuttered for a moment, turning his head further into Shino to try bury the tear that escaped his eyes. Shino noticed, as he did with every habit Artemis developed. He noticed how Artemis developed this unhealthy worry about the two of them, he noticed how Artemis's body physically refused to allow him to sleep until he knew that the both of them were back in the dorms and safe. He knew

And Shino knew he would never be able to let go of his vigilante errands.

"It scares me." Artemis whispered "when you're out there..". Shino acknowledged the small tuffs of black and white hair that blurred in his peripheral vision, still smoothing his fingers over the warm freckled skin at his shoulder. "Why" shino whispered back in the same hushed tone, as if their conversation was meant to be hidden from the world.

Artemis stayed silent for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. "The thought.. of you being out there, in danger. What if you don't come back? And i've lost you?" Artemis asked, his voice weak and his hands clinging to Shino as if when he let go Shino would vanish. And Shino's heart sank, an overwhelming guilt which left him uncomfortable in his skin.

He pressed a kiss into Arty's temple, then keeping his face there by him. The sugary vanilla smell of Arty's skin was comforting, an indication of home like walking in from a bad day of school and being greeted with a home cooked meal.

"I love you, get some rest" Shino told him, adjusting himself on the couch. Arty hummed in agreement, still holding onto him as they cuddled with arms and legs entangled. Shino knew Artemis had closed his eyes as he felt his eyelashes flutter against the skin, tickling him almost.

And Shino's eyes remained wide open. Debating everything he'd ever knew, ever thought. Being with Artemis was a completely new and unique sense of comfort and home he was never used to. But giving up something that had become his life, how?

How had Monarch Academy managed to tear him between choosing a boy he would die for an a cause he would die for?

He barely registered Artemis's breath evening out. Normally when they would cuddle it would take him a few minutes to fall asleep, he really was ruining him huh?
