Roman POV

"Okay, here we are. Fingers crossed. Ready, baby girl?" I asked as I parked the car and looked over at Amali.

"Oh, I'm ready. However, I have my doubts whether it will be different this time. If it doesn't work out again, we could do the blood test. Or maybe we should just accept that we have to wait until the birth," she replied as she stroked her bump, almost lost in thought, and looked out of the window.

I turned a little and reached for her chin. I turned her head so that she had to look at me. I was aware that she really wanted to know more than anything else. It was just that over the course of the pregnancy it had become frustrating that the baby only ever showed us the back or even had their legs pressed so tightly together that it was simply impossible for the doctor and the ultrasound technician to see anything. Not even the 3D ultrasound had produced any results. Although we now knew that our baby already had a head full of hair and that it looked very similar to Amali.

I slowly leaned towards her and gave her a long kiss. Amali put her hand on my cheek to keep me close to her.

"I know you wanted to be patient and see it on the ultrasound. It was so important to you, but I don't think the blood test is the worst idea. After all, you and Jojo will want to buy everything for the baby and the nursery before it arrives, won't you?" I finally said.

"I really wanted that. I wanted this special moment. But you're right. I would really like to be able to prepare everything perfectly. And I'm sure Joelle will be going up the walls soon too.

If we don't find out today, we'll do the test. And then... Maybe we can surprise the family at Thanksgiving." she replied quietly.

"That's a nice idea. And it's only a week away. Time has flown by really quickly. Not even two months left," I said.

"Yes, maybe for you!" she laughed out loud.

At least until she suddenly seemed to run out of breath. She pressed a hand to her stomach and I saw that our baby had kicked her hard. I could even see the foot through her dress.

"Whew... Sorry, baby. Daddy must have made Mommy laugh too hard." she said and rubbed the sore spot.

I added my hand and did the same. Baby Reigns was so active today. Maybe he or she took pity on us and turned on the right side.

While we were getting everything ready for dinner with the family, I couldn't help but let my eyes wander to my gorgeous fiancée over and over again. I was so distracted that my boys managed to pin me to the floor. They had the time of their lives and giggled the whole time.

Amali's mom Molly and my mom were in the kitchen cooking while they chatted happily. We kept trying to offer them help, but to no avail.

"Are you sure there's nothing I can do for you?" Amali asked the two moms as she joined them.

"Yeah, you can park your butt on the couch and bake my grandchild." Molly said before practically shoving Amali into the living room.

"Roman, why don't you and the kids go set the table. We're almost ready." my mother called to me.

"Will do." I replied, because I wouldn't have dreamed of contradicting her.

However, I went to Amali first and gave her a loving kiss. Of course, her baby bump got a kiss too. Just as it should be.

"Love you. I can hardly wait for dessert." I said quietly.

"Love you too. I'm so excited to see her face." she whispered to me with a grin.

"Hey, what are you whispering about? Dad, come on. Hurry up." Jojo called over to us.

We both couldn't help but smirk.

Amali POV

"That was delicious. And we would all like to say a big thank you to our two chefs. You are the best! But now it's time for dessert. And it's something very special. Because we finally know what the baby is going to be.

Jojo sweetheart... would you do the honors?" I said as Roman placed the cake on the table in front of his daughter.

She looked at us wide-eyed as Ro handed her a knife. I saw her swallow and then begin to cut very carefully. She cut a piece and pulled it out before suddenly jumping up and hugging me tightly.

"What's wrong? Why is it purple? Did you mix blue and pink by mistake?" Dad asked in amazement as everyone stood up to take a look.

"It's not purple. It's lilac! I'm getting a sister!" Joelle called out excitedly as she now fell into her daddy's arms.

"And it's Lilac because that's going to be her name. Lilac Brooklyn Reigns." Roman announced proudly.
