Over the next few days, Taylor was an incredible help. I knew she was hurting too but she let me lean on her, which was all I needed.
We stayed home, looked at houses in Philly, went to the gym a few times to get some exercise. Both of us made an effort to eat properly, and by the end of the week we were doing better. It was easier not doing it alone, and we both knew it.
And on the weekend, we both quit our jobs. Even though no other jobs or houses or decisions had been properly finalized yet, both Taylor and I knew we were firm in our decision that we were going to move to Philly. We needed a break from work while everything happened. We were both fucking exhausted.
Once we'd explained the circumstances, the firm was incredibly generous about us leaving. We hadn't had heaps of work anyway, so they took the two weeks 'notice' off our pay and then said our final pay and leave money would come the next pay cycle. Taylor and I went in to get our things on Sunday, and that was it. They were so nice about it.
When I came out from putting everything into my office, I found Taylor on the phone, smiling to herself. I paused.
"Well no, but we thought we needed a break while we sorted out moving." She said. "Yeah, that would be great. I'll check with Travis but I'm sure he'll take any excuse to see the girls. As long as Jason's okay with...okay." Taylor laughed. "Point taken. We would love to. Okay. Thanks Kylie. Bye."
"We're visiting?" I asked as Taylor put her phone down.
"She invited us to stay with them when we go over to look at the houses."
"That sounds great." I smiled, placing my hands on her hips when Taylor turned into my arms. She placed her hands on my jaw, and I let myself soak in the feeling of her fingers stroking very softly against the stubble of my beard. "God it's nice to feel a little free for once." I sighed, resting my forehead against Taylor's.
"Yeah." She murmured. "And soon we'll have a fresh start, in a new city close to your family, with new jobs, and it'll be better than here."
"And one day." I whispered, ducking my head so that I could speak directly into her ear. "One day we'll find someone who can carry our baby for us, and nine months after that we'll have a little baby to take care of."
"A baby." Taylor breathed in awe. "I've always wanted to be a mother."
"You will be." I kissed her neck and Taylor shivered. "I can't wait until we're ready Sunshine, when we can start our family."
"Me too." She stroked my jaw again. "And I know we'll be ready soon. When we're moved in, when we're settled."
I nodded, pulling Taylor's lips to mine in a slow, soft kiss. She sighed, lifting up on her toes and snaking her arms around my neck. I took a step, a second step, and then Taylor let out a huff into my mouth when I pressed her up against the wall.
"Sexy." She murmured, and I chuckled as I dragged a hand down to cup her knee.
"That's my aim." I mumbled into the kiss, and Taylor giggled as we continued making out against the wall. Kissing and tentative touches was all we'd progressed to since I felt so much better in my own skin now. Kayla had scared me, but Taylor was different. I wasn't completely shaken that easily.
"Okay, fuck." Taylor gasped after a short while. "Travis, my love, I am so into this but if we keep going I think we might get carried away."
"I kind of want to get carried away." I murmured, because God, I wanted her.
"Travis but what about..." Taylor started, but I placed a finger over her lips, gazing into her eyes. "Oh." She breathed. "Okay."
I didn't think I would feel better about this side of our relationship for a while, but I did. Kayla had broken my trust all over again, but this was Taylor. I loved her, and I wanted to show her that. She knew I was aware of what I wanted.
