Meeting them:
You stand nervously in King's Cross station, clutching the handle of your trunk. Your parents are looking around helplessly, clearly as confused as you are by the whole magical situation. The ticket in your hand says "Platform 9 ¾," but no such platform seems to exist. People pass by without giving your family a second glance, and you can feel your anxiety rising.
"We'll figure it out, don't worry," your dad says, though his eyes keep darting back to the regular train platforms.
Just then, you hear a voice nearby, soft but unmistakably warm.
"Excuse me, are you trying to get to Hogwarts?"
You turn to see a tall, red-haired boy, not much older than yourself, standing next to a large family of equally red-haired children. His wide grin is comforting, and you nod gratefully.
"We are! But, uh, we're not sure how..." you admit, glancing nervously at the barrier between platforms 9 and 10.
"Ah, it's your first year!" the boy exclaims. "Don't worry, it's a bit confusing the first time. I'm Bill, by the way, and that's my brother Charlie." He gestures toward a shorter boy standing beside him, with a wild sparkle in his eyes. Charlie waves, looking at you curiously.
"Hi!" you say, feeling a wave of relief. "I'm [Y/N]."
Charlie's eyes flicker down to the cage in your hand, where your pet Bush viper, coiled peacefully, flicks its tongue against the bars. His eyes light up with awe.
"Whoa, is that a snake?" Charlie steps closer, eyes wide. "It looks just like a dragon, doesn't it, Bill?"
Bill chuckles, glancing at the snake. "A bit smaller, though. But Charlie loves anything that even remotely looks like a dragon."
Your cheeks warm as you look down at your pet. "Yeah, this is Saffron," you say, opening the cage slightly to let Charlie have a better look. "He's harmless, really. Just... looks fierce."
Charlie beams at you, his excitement contagious. "He's brilliant!" He reaches out cautiously, letting Saffron sniff his hand. "I've never seen a snake like this before. Where did you get him?"
You explain how you got Saffron, and Charlie listens with fascination, as if you were describing a real dragon. Bill steps closer to the barrier and gestures for you to follow.
"Right, you've just got to walk straight through the barrier," Bill explains. "Sounds mad, but it's easy. I'll go first, and you can follow with Charlie."
Your parents watch in amazement as Bill strolls straight toward the brick wall and vanishes. You feel a small jolt of panic but nod at Charlie, who offers you a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, it's not as scary as it looks. You've got Saffron with you, anyway," Charlie says with a grin.
"Okay," you breathe, tightening your grip on your trunk. Your parents give you encouraging nods, and you take a deep breath.
"Ready?" Charlie asks, standing beside you with his own trunk in tow.
You give a firm nod, and together, you and Charlie step forward, the brick wall looming ahead. Just before you reach it, Charlie whispers excitedly, "This is going to be amazing!"
