When Evelyn woke up the next morning, the first thing she felt was her pounding headache. The last thing she remembered was watching JJ spill coffee on himself. As she tried to rack her brain for what came after that, she came to the conclusion that she had blacked out and it was no use.

Evelyn tried to sit up, but something held her down. She looked to her waist and saw JJ's arm wrapped tightly around her. She gasped. How did this happen? Evelyn wished she could remember last night even more now.

As she took in the space around her, she realized several things. One, JJ was still shirtless. Two, they were on the roof. Three, there was only one blanket. Four, JJ had half-moon-shaped cuts on his hand, and Evelyn really hoped that wasn't from her.

JJ shifted, pulling Evelyn in tighter. The likelihood of her being able to get out of his arms was low, but she really needed some aspirin. Just as she had predicted, she regretted drinking the entire bottle of vodka. How was she supposed to go about being friends with JJ again after this?

After deciding not to fight it anymore, she let herself enjoy the moment. It felt just like when they were kids, cuddling underneath the pier when they were hurting.

Once Evelyn finally felt JJ stirring, she turned around to face him, laying her head back on his arm.

"You feeling alright?" he asked, a smirk on his face.

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Absolutely."

A chuckle came from him.

"I don't remember much, JJ. Do you wanna tell me how we ended up on the roof?"

He sat up, leaving Evelyn much colder. She didn't realize how much warmth he was giving her, and how little their shared blanket helped.

"Well, I don't know how you got up here, but when I found you lying here, you told me you wanted to look at the stars."

"Oh, that's funny."

"Yeah, it is now, but you ran off. One second you were right in front of me, the next you fucking disappeared."

"I'm sorry," Evelyn sighed. "I'm sure I didn't mean to scare you."

JJ looked at her. It was clear he had been really worried about her when she ran off. "Just don't do it again."

Evelyn didn't know what to say, so all she did was hug him. "I won't. I promise."

She could feel him hesitate before wrapping his arms around her. They sat there for a minute before Evelyn asked her next question. "Why did we only have one blanket?"

JJ's large grin appeared. "Maybe because you told me you didn't want separate ones."

"I said that?"

"You wouldn't let me give you another one. The pillow too. You begged me to share."

Evelyn blushed. It was embarrassing enough that she was that drunk, but to beg to share a blanket and pillow? That was even worse. They wouldn't even share those when they were kids. It always had to be separate.

"Since you're here," JJ said. "We found something."

It took Evelyn a minute to figure out what he was referring to. Of course, he would bring it up again. Her brother certainly still wanted her help.
