The sound of footsteps reaches Alana's ears and she quickly runs further down into the basement, careful not to alert Grace of her presence and hides in a corner, crouching down. Her breathing slows and becomes as quiet as possible as she peeks over the various boxes and bits. Soon enough, Ben and Fei enter the basement, stopping when they see the mysterious glowing orb.
Alana watched, her eyes darting from her two siblings to Grace to the ominous humming orb of energy.
Grace was now kneeling on the floor in front of some ancient runes.
"Sweet jesus." Fei murmurs, the tone of her voice suggesting awe and slight suspicion as her and Ben tiptoe closer.
"Jesus is one possible interpretation of this deity." Grace states, her voice full of admiration. "Or perhaps it's the reincarnation of Buddha, or Brahma the Creator."
Ben shoots Grace a weird look before reaching out a cautious hand towards the entity. Grace quickly opens her eyes and fixes him with a death stare.
"Be careful, Number Two. You don't want to disturb his slumber. Who knows who the waking god will choose next!" Grace warns, and Ben narrows his eyes slightly before pulling his hand back to his side.
"Grace, is this what took Marcus?" Fei inquires.
"He went right up and touched it. Brazen man." Grace answers, standing up. Alana furrows her brows.
So that's where he went. But what happened? Was he...gone?
"The light of the Lord is too much for mere mortals." Grace continues.
"Grace, when did God get here?" Fei asks gently.
"Two days ago." Grace answers, still looking at the orb with awe and a dreamy expression on her face. "With our new visitors."
Alana narrows her eyes. With the Umbrellas. Did they do this? Did they set this thing up to take out Marcus? And was the rest of the academy next?
---
Soon, Ben and Fei exit the basement and Alana stands up silently, dodging the boxes as she makes her way out of her little hiding nook. Grace is still staring at the orb, the light reflecting in her eyes. Alana watches for a second as Grace hesitantly steps back from the orb and exits the basement too.
Alana lets out a silent breath of relief that she hadn't been caught and makes her own way over to the orb. It's bright, almost scorching to the eyes and energy ripples off of it in waves. Alana circles the mysterious entity, her eyes piercing into it's orange glow curiously. She can't put a finger on what it could be; she's never seen anything like this before. She silently goes through the facts in her head.
So,
This...thing arrived two days ago. Assumingly with the Umbrella Academy.
This...thing..took Marcus.
Was he gone? Was he somewhere else entirely?
She needs to think.
Alana shakes her head and steps away from the orb, letting out a tired huff. She glances at the orb curiously one more time before making her way out of the basement.
---
"Alana." Ben calls. Alana opens the door to her room and raises a brow at her siblings, who are all dressed in their red mission attire.
"You're coming with us." Ben orders, beckoning for her to come down. Alana sighs but feels a slight pang in her heart as she takes in all the matching suits. Her own had been...revoked after her little muting herself stunt. Alana gestures with her hands as if to say 'where?'.
