Ch.14 : Not A Scratch

                                    

                                          
"This is the third time we have come close to the Mutant but haven't been able to catch them.", said Fury. The Avengers currently were sitting in the meeting room with Fury at the head of the table looking over a big screen displaying the image of the SHIELD base destroyed minutes back. The same Purple fog surrounding the flames and dense gas. "And I'm 99% sure the next one will be the last", announced Natasha surprising everyone except Clint. "What do you mean ?", questioned Bruce. "What she means is that even though we did not catch her...we have marked her. Both Nat and I had gotten a glimpse of the girl through the smoke and aimed our weapons at her", said Clint followed by Natasha,"And it did hit her cause my widow bites did not return back, which happens when it hits the target." The rest of the Avengers were stunned. Obviously they knew how incredibly capable the Master Assassins were but it still took them by surprise at how fast they thought and took action."What would we do without you", said Tony letting out a sigh earning various nods of agreement and a smug smirk from both Natasha and Clint. "So now we have to search for someone with the widow bite and arrow marks right ?", enquired Sam. "Yeah. And there won't be anyone else with those marks except the Thundergirl... thundering mutant... whatever we call her cause this is the first time in ages we used our weapons. We just have to make sure we find her before they heal", said Clint. "Let's get over with it team. We got this", said Steve as the others agreed....a burning desire to finally get hold of this mysterious mutant brewing all over again. 
Penny cleaned the wounds on her leg with some alcohol and cotton. She hissed due to the burning sensation. Thankfully they didn't hurt much when moving and wasn't the most terrible wound she has had, except the nasty mark it left on her leg. Those two marks were quite distinct and different from any normal scratch or stab wound. Penny felt a wave of despair wash through her. Looking at the wounds she again realised how much she was hated by them that they didn't think twice before hurting her. Penny didn't blame them...they didn't know it was her. Back when they did, even a little wound on her was treated by Mr.Banner with utmost care and later every Avenger would question about how it was curing at least for a month. And Mr.Stark....he would take a look at it and bandage it himself cause he didn't trust her with taking care of herself and so had taken the duty upon himself. Penny bet that if he had any clue of the situation here he would have wanted her to fight him and even kill him if it meant keeping herself safe. But Penny can't do that. They might not remember her..but she remembered them. She remembered every moment she spent with them, the moments she cherished. She can't hurt Mr.Stark. She never will...even if it meant getting herself killed.Even though each one of them were against her and attacked her and probably wanted her dead cause Penny knew that by escaping their close calls she had successfully pissed each one of them, she could still not hurt them. And she swore she won't let her powers cause even a scratch on any one of the Avengers.
