"I know! I know... It's just-! I-! Something is going to happen. I just know it! And I don't know what it is..." Colletta tugged harshly on her fiery hair as her volume dwindled into a small whisper.
Hex closed his eyes for a moment. "If you keep repressing that feeling and not allow it to guide you, you're just going to fall apart like a bunch of Jenga blocks."
She snorted, "Easier said than done."
"Mihihi! What has anything been easier done rather than said?" He held out his hand. "Besides, we got a bastard to smack in the face with a slipper."
"Keuk-! Hahaha!" A full-blown laughter erupted from her chest. "I suppose we do, don't we?" She took his hand with a smile.
"That's the spirit! Mihihi!" Despite the lighter tone of their conversation, their shoulders were heavy with responsibilities when they left the building.
Colletta was quickly given the location of the meet-up and she immediately left with a good-bye. Hex went in a different direction; most likely to round up team two.
Her wings flapped gently against the cool, night air. Her flames lit the dark sky in an orange haze. The warm tone of her fire was the opposite of the cool tone of the moonbeam. The two contrasting colors reminded her greatly of the sun and moon...
Two figures popped up in her mind. There was a tall man with bronze brown skin and glowing, molten gold eyes. His orange hair tipped into a soft red swayed behind him like a solar flare. Pearly white teeth and a scarred hand waved at her in greeting. The man wore a loose-fitting chiton that was tied with a golden rope. His flowy pants flared at the bottom of his ankles, showing a pair of leather sandals.
A woman with a similar height to the man stood next to him. If the man's appearance was that of the sun, then her appearance was that of the moon. Her skin was milky and smooth, barely blemished by any scars. Her green, purple, blue colored hair flowed past her shoulder like an aurora borealis. Pale yellow eyes were curved into crescents as her blood-red lips lifted into a small smile. She held a long shawl over her gorgeous purple peplos as she lifted a scarred hand in acknowledgment.
Then, as quick as they came, they were replaced by grotesque abominations. Their faces melted as they fused into one monstrous body. Their hands reached out, calling, asking, pleading, screaming, crying, demanding, for her to help them.
Bile rose up in her esophagus as she covered her mouth with her hands. Sweat dripped down her face while she struggled to swallow down the foul-tasting liquid. Overwhelming grief engulfed her entire mind when she thought about the two siblings. Gods. Gods.
She quickly made a detour to the side. Tears blurred her vision the longer she thought about the two. Sun and moon... Both shattered into pieces and melded together like some kind of sick mosaic art piece. Ah... She can't. She really can't think anymore.
Breathe in... Breathe out... Breathe in... Breathe out...
Colletta spat out a wad of spit onto the grass. She took out the self-replenishing goblet and guzzled down the water. Clear liquid trickled down her chin and she wiped it away furiously. Putting the bejeweled chalice back into her inventory, she took a moment to empty her thoughts. She shoved all of her memories into a corner and locked them up. Why couldn't her revivals just take her horrible memories away?
With a sigh, she leaned her back against a tree and slid down onto her rear. Perhaps she should take up Apoth's offer to see a therapist... She shook her head at the ridiculous notion. The therapist might call her crazy and have the police lock her up in an asylum.
She smacked her face gently. She should probably go meet up with team one. Maybe that could distract her from those horrifying memories.
Her legs shook slightly before she flared her wings to take off again. This time she firmly refrained from thinking about the two celestial bodies. She instead focused on finding the rest of team one. Kumo was most likely with her mother, helping with the barrier. Spreading her qi around, she quickly pinpointed where the little one was.
