When I opened my eyes this morning, the gray ceiling and the musty smell were the first things that ruined my day, in addition to everything that has happened in the short-eternal week. The safe house is quite equipped, it's industrial style, not bad, but not my type. It's boring and empty to me, the nights are cold and no matter how much I clean it, the smell of storage doesn't wear off. Jun-san had mentioned that I can work from home, but I don't really feel like being stuck in this place. It's not like the office is a lovely place, but at least it's different.
Since the other day, the news has done nothing but worsen the situation. They publish more photos and comments from supposed people who saw us together. And in the office everyone looks at me with suspicion. In reality, they keep me locked in the office almost all the time, but at least they now let me go to the cafeteria. I cannot enter floors other than the lobby, cafeteria and my office. I haven't seen any of the heroes this week, much less (...)
-Why don't you stay in the house?- Nao-senpai asked as he sat on the desk and took a sip of coffee.
-You too? I don't want to. It makes me feel alone- I said with a pout.
-Well it's not like you have many friends here.-
-Hey! I have you, that's enough for me. Besides, if I didn't come, who would join you for our morning coffee?-
I'm not going to lie, it hurts me to see how suddenly everyone around me sees me as the enemy. It's not like they considered me their close friend or anything like that, but they don't talk to me or greet me anymore. Even for work, they prefer to leave things at the door rather than speaking to me. Jun-san and Nao-senpai are the only ones who keep in contact with me, and the security guard who doesn't leave my side, the only words we exchange are "Yes, No and Mmm."
Why me? Why against me? What did I do? Is this a punishment for falling in love?
-I could have coffee with someone else.-
-Oh yeah, I forgot you and Jun-san are practically attached at the hip these days. Tell him that I save the mornings from Monday to Friday, specifically from seven thirty to eight five. - I said with a smile.
-In fact I was talking about Chargebolt.-
When he said his name my smile turned into a grimace of pain. Technically he didn't even say his real name, he just said his hero name, but just the thought of him makes my heart stop in panic. We haven't seen each other since the other day, at first I was looking for him in the hallways, I was waiting for a glimpse of him and then I realized that he was serious, he didn't want to see me, he didn't want to have anything to do with me. I have handled everything related to his hero agenda through Jun-san.
-Are you still fighting?-
-Me? I'm not even mad at him. Well yes, a little, but he is the one who doesn't want to see me. I've no idea what he's thinking.-
-It's a delicate topic. Give it time, you know him better than anyone. You'll soon forget it, and everyone else too.-
-I hope so.-
In the afternoon I received an email from Jun-san:
"Good afternoon, y/ln-san. I inform you that this afternoon the directive board will hold a meeting to address the problems that arose in the week regarding the Chargebolt news. We'll inform you of the details at the meeting. See you at five."
Finally! I can't believe it took them so long to put an end to this whole dilemma. This whole situation makes me a little scared, well, more like eager. I don't know what is going to happen, they have me very isolated in this regard, the truth is I haven't even worked much these days. It's mostly reviewing past documents and approving them, nothing new.
