"I WANT ANYONE WHO COULD BE CIRILLA LINED UP IN THE SQUARE!"

That was the first thing Cirilla heard when she awoke. She had passed out nog long ago and was still felling slight dizzy.

"Bring the water." Brida told the Danes, who brought a bucket of water over and sat it in front of Sigtryggr. At this, Rognvaldrs eyes widened and he rushed to her side.

"Let him live and he will come to you as I did." He begged. "Please." Sigtrggyr let his head fall. His face was covered in blood and his eyes were tired, Cirilla has never seen him look so vulnerable before it broke her heart. "Let me teach him how we worship the gods with purity."

"All this to prove yourself to your brother?" She questioned. "To get the chance to lead him?"

"I will not follow this perversion." Sigtrggyr spoke, his voice breaking. "I lease these people and I will die their king."

"As you wish, kill him."

Cirillas breath caught in her throat. They were going to kill her husband and there was nothing she could do to help. He was vulnerable, pushed to his knees, hand tied in front of him. This was not the fate he deserved. She watched as Rognvaldr dunked his brothers head under the water, holding him there, despite his struggles. Her eyes began to water once again as her husband was on the brink of death. Suddenly, Brida grabbed Sigtrggyr and pulled his head from the bucket, cashing his to take a large breathe of air and allowing Cirilla to realise the breathe she was holding. Her husbands time was not over yet.

"Find Uhtred." She instructed, cutting the ropes from around Sigtrggyrs wrists.

"I will not leave my people to your mercy." She suddenly straddled Sigtrggyr as he sat.

"We will find you wife, you know we will." She said lowly. "So I offer you this bargain. I will spare her life, only if you bring me Uhtred." She then got off of him, allowing him to stand, grunting in pain as he did.

He gave his brother one last long long, before turning his back to him and walking out the fort. If Brida wanted Uhtred, he would bring her Uhtred if if it ensured his wives life.

Cirilla watched as her husband exited the fort, her heart feeling empty as he disappeared through the doors into the night. She knew her husband was strong, but he was hurt and alone.

She worried for his life as he worried for hers.

It has been a day since Sigtryggr had left Eoferwic and things had only gotten worse. Cirilla watched from the ground as Brida lined up all the woman in the fort and forced them to their knees.

"You will stay there until your precious Cirillia shows herself!" She yelled. "Cirilla! Show yourself! Do not let these woman suffer!" Brida knew that Cirilla would feel guilty by hiding as her people suffered.

She stood down from the small step, unable to watch any longer and took some deep breathes, staring at the ground.

"You must stay here." Hella signed to her, almost as is she had read her mind. Cirilla would not sit and hide while he people suffered at the hands of Brida, but she knew it was the best thing to do if they wanted to survive. So she nodded.
