Prompt: You're driving at night when you can't help but shake the feeling that there's a person in your back seat.

As Joe drove down the dark, deserted highway, a chill ran down his spine. The road ahead stretched out endlessly into the night, the only light coming from the dim glow of his headlights. He couldn't help but feel a sense of unease creeping over him, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end.

He glanced in the rearview mirror, his heart skipping a beat as he thought he saw a shadowy figure sitting in the back seat. He quickly turned his gaze back to the road, cursing himself for letting his imagination run wild. It was just a trick of the light, he told himself. There was no one there.

But the feeling persisted, growing stronger with each passing mile. Joe could almost swear he could hear the sound of breathing coming from behind him. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind of the irrational fear that was gripping him.

Suddenly, a voice broke the silence. "Turn left at the next intersection," it said, a low, raspy whisper that sent shivers down Joe's spine. He slammed on the brakes, his heart pounding in his chest.

Who was speaking to him? How had someone gotten into his car without him noticing?Joe looked in the rearview mirror again, his eyes widening in horror as he saw the figure sitting in the back seat, its features obscured by the darkness. "Who are you?!" he shouted, his hands trembling on the steering wheel.

"I am the one who haunts your every step, the one who knows your deepest fears," the voice replied, sending a chill down Joe's spine. "You cannot escape me, for I am always with you."

Joe felt a surge of adrenaline, his fight or flight response kicking in. He made a split-second decision and swerved the car off the road, bringing it to a screeching halt in a deserted parking lot. He turned to confront the figure in the back seat, his hands clenched into fists.

But to his shock, there was no one there. The back seat was empty, the only sound the howling of the wind outside. Joe sat there, breathing heavily, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

And then he heard it again – the voice, coming from somewhere outside the car. "You can't run from me, Joe. I will always be with you," it said, the words echoing in the empty parking lot.

Joe's heart pounded in his chest as he realized the truth – he was being stalked by something otherworldly, something that had latched onto him and was refusing to let go. He had to find a way to break free from its grip, or risk losing his sanity.

With a steely resolve, Joe started the car and drove off into the night, determined to confront the entity that was haunting him. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, that every move he made was being scrutinized by some malevolent force.

As he drove, the voice whispered in his ear, taunting him with his deepest fears and insecurities. Joe gritted his teeth, refusing to let it break him. He had to find a way to banish this dark presence from his life, once and for all.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Joe arrived at a secluded cabin in the woods. He knew this was where he had to make his stand, where he had to face his fears head on. With a deep breath, he stepped out of the car and made his way towards the cabin, the voice growing louder and more insistent with each step he took.

As he entered the cabin, Joe could feel the oppressive weight of the entity bearing down on him. He lit a candle, the flickering flame casting shadows on the walls. "Show yourself!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the empty room.

And then, in a swirl of dark mist, the figure materialized before him. It was a twisted, grotesque creature, with eyes that glowed with an otherworldly light. "Who are you?" Joe demanded, his voice steady despite the fear that gripped him.

"I am your shadow, Joe. I am the darkness that lurks in your soul," the entity hissed, its voice a chilling whisper that sent shivers down Joe's spine. "You cannot escape me, for I am a part of you."

Without hesitation, Joe reached into his pocket and pulled out a talisman he had found in an old book of spells. With a steady hand, he whispered the incantation, the words ancient and powerful on his tongue. A blinding light filled the room, enveloping the entity in its brilliance.

And then, with a final scream of rage, the shadow creature dissipated into nothingness, leaving Joe standing alone in the cabin, his heart pounding in his chest. He had faced his fears and emerged victorious, banishing the darkness that had been haunting him.

As he made his way back to the car, Joe knew that the road ahead would be a long and difficult one. But he also knew that he had the strength and courage to face whatever challenges came his way. The entity was gone, but its memory would linger, a reminder of the darkness that dwelt within us all.

And as Joe drove off into the night, the moon shining down on him like a benevolent guardian, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. The entity may have been vanquished, but he knew that the true battle was just beginning – the battle to overcome his own inner demons and emerge stronger on the other side.
