M e h r b a n o

The man standing in front of me was my husband, Ehan Haider but he wasn't like the man I have married and stayed with for the last two years.

I was seeing him after many weeks and he looked like a completely different man. I never expected him to reach me. But that didn't surprise me, his look did.

He looked thin and weak. He was among those people who couldn't lose their weight easily but now it seemed like he was starving for weeks.

His eyes were sunken and dark circles very prominent. It seemed as if he hadn't slept for a long time. His eyes had lost their charm.

His hair ruffled and clothes crinkled. He was wearing a simple black shirt and trousers that was his lounge wear.

He never stepped out of the house in such a condition. He liked neatness and perfection in every aspect. I couldn't believe my eyes.

What had happened to him?

I took my steps back. I didn't want to indulge in conversation with him in front of the guard. He followed behind me impatiently.

"Mehr!" His voice had that longing which I once desired. It struck my heart like a bow.

"What are you doing here? How did you even got to know about my address?" I asked him strictly.

"How are you? It's been so long..." He asked impatiently. His voice was slow and faint.

"Answer me" I didn't softened my tone. Anger was building inside me.

"I was dying to see you" He said emotionally.

"From where did you get my address Ehan?" I repeated my question sternly.

"I took my friend's help" He mentioned.

"Shame on you for doing this" I pointed my finger at him in accusation.

"I just wanted to find you. I wanted to know that you are safe" His voice cracked.

"I am very safe when I am not at your place" I looked away from him.

"I am so sorry Mehr! Please don't do this with us. Give me one chance love! Please! I beg you once chance. I can't bear this anymore. Please!!!" His eyes begged just like his voice.

"Stop it" I murmured, gazing his reckless appearance. It would be unfair to not accept that I didn't like him in such devastated condition even when I already said that I don't care about him anymore. But it wasn't true anyway.

"You have no idea. How much I craved to see you. Thank God you are safe! How have you been all this time?.." He tried to grab my hand.

"I have been very happy and content" I jerked his hands.

"You shouldn't have left like that. Do you even have a slightest idea what could have happened to you. This world isn't safe for women" He fisted his hands together.

"We aren't safe in our homes anyway" I looked him into his eyes, which seemed dead and hollow.

"I always tried to protect you. Don't say that. I didn't want to hurt you ever" His eyes watered and a tear rolled down on his cheeks.

It wasn't nice to watch him crying. It didn't give me any satisfaction.

"And you still hurt me" I had nothing but assusations for him.

"Forgive me please!" He covered his face with his both hands.

"I want to move on. I want to forget you. Can you just leave me alone!!!" I asked him firmly.
