"How was school mija?" Emmelines' father asks as soon as she gets inside the car"Okay, I guess." She shrugs not feeling in a chatty mood.
Her dad seems to notice this and doesn't question her behavior and just begins to drive home.
"I might be a bit busy in my office when we get home, if you need anything just come on in." Rafael lets his daughter know.
He's worried about her. He knows that Milos death would be very hard on her and she would most likely show it but in all reality she doesn't show much of anything.
She's quieter and more reserved to her herself. He hopes she trust him enough to talk about it because he's grieving to and maybe it could help them both.
But death and grief aren't easy subjects.
As soon as they arrive home Emme is quick to grab her stuff and walk towards her room, leaving Rafael alone in the car even more worried for her.
With a sign he walk inside the quiet house and towards his office.
He hates the quietness in the house. It used to be full of noise and laughter but now it's all so quiet and empty
His wife being at work even if she isn't doing well. The youngest kids at their grandparents house for the day.
Then they're Elio, who's constantly overworking himself at soccer and Dylan who just goes out with his friends and gets home whenever he feels like it.
Emmeline, like always shuts herself in her room not making a noise you wouldn't even tell their someone in there and well Milo. Milo is gone.
'If only things could've turned out differently' Rafael thought to himself
He then begins to work on something's that need to be finished but not long after there is a knock at the door.
"Come in." He mutters
Emme opens and closes the door before sitting on one of the chairs in Rafael's office.
"There is someone at the door for you. He says you knew him and his dad." Emme tells her father.
"Really? Let him come in, por favor princesa." Rafael tells her, wondering if it is who he thinks it is.
("Please princess")
"Okay." Emme replies
Emme walks downstairs where the guy is currently sitting in the living room.
"Follow me. My dads upstairs." She tells him gaining his attention.
"Okay." He quickly replies
She then beings walking towards her dads office again. Emmeline wonders who this guy is and how he knows her father but doesn't question it.
She will, when he leaves at least.
"It's this door right here." She tells him
"Thank you, Emmeline was it?" He asks her
"Um you're welcome and yes. What's yours again?" She hesitantly asks the guy
"It's Blake Torres." Blake replies.
The name sounds familiar to Emme but she just shrugs it off.
"Well, it was um nice meeting you Blake" She shyly replies before walking off.
"Emmeline, can I tell you something?" Blake calls for her
"Um sure, I guess." Emmeline says as she looks back at Blake
"I'm sorry for you loss kid. It's really sucks, I lost my dad when I was young but, don't push everyone out."
"That's what I did and I only ended up alone and all messed up. I lost my brothers and little sister and now eight years later I'm paying the price and having to work to get them back in my life. Let them in, it'll help you." He finishes
Blake looks at the girl who seems to be lost in her thoughts. He only hopes his words to her will help her because that's what he wished someone would've told him before he left.
"Thank you but you don't need to worry about it." Is all she says before finally walking off
Blake looks off at the young girl, he can tell she isn't doing good. I mean who would after losing someone so close to you.
He then knocks on the door and walks in after hearing the immediate 'come in'
Walking in Rafael couldn't believe to see the oldest Torres kid in front of him.
He remembers quite a few things of Blake and his family. He moved to Texas a few years before their father Ezra died.
Ezra happened to be a very good friend to Rafael. His death took a bit of a tool on him when he found out.
"Blake Torres. It's been a very long time mijo." Rafael finally speaks in disbelief
"Rafael. It's good to finally see you again." Blake gives him a smile.
"Indeed it is. Siéntate por favor."
("Sit please.")
"Bueno, que te trae a Texas o más específicamente a mi casa mijo?"
("We'll, what brings you to Texas or more specifically my home kid?")
"Escuche sobre tu hijo. Emilio was it?" Blake tells him
("I heard about your kid")
"Yes Emilio." Rafael sadly smiles at Blake
"That must be very hard. To lose your child, but your a very strong person."
"I'm not that strong kid. Nadie es."
("Nobody is.")
"Frankly I don't even know what to do with myself. All I know is that things shouldn't have gone this way." Rafael angrily scoffs
"He was only thirteen, barely a teenager. So full of joy." Rafael mumbles
"I get that. When my father died, all I wanted is to know why. Why of all people it had to be him to die." Blake replied
"Can you tell me something? Does it ever get better, the pain, the feeling of loss?" Rafael asks him
"It takes time but eventually you forget about the pain and the loss. It's still their it will always be but it just becomes less heavy." Blake replies the best way he could.
"I really hope it does." Rafael mumbles
"So how are the rest of the Torres children."
"That's a long story."
————————————————————————
Blake made an appearance, yayy! What do you guys think abt the advice he gave to both Emme and Rafael? Will Emme truly push everyone away? Again school is a pain but we have a five day weekend so I'll try and post some more.
