Chapter 22
The announcer's voice echoed through the stadium, signaling the start of their battle. "Ladies and gentlemen, our next match is between Ashton Red Ketchum and Misty, the Cerulean City Gym Leader! The battlefield we're having for this match is the water field. Let the battle begin!"
Ash and Misty stepped onto the battlefield, each trainer filled with a sense of purpose. The two of them met eyes, the friendly rivalry still simmering between them.
"Let's give it everything we've got," Ash called out.
Misty nodded, a smile on her face. "You bet. May the best trainer win!"
The crowd cheered as the referee raised his flags, signaling the start of their match. The atmosphere was electric as the two friends prepared to face each other, their passion for Pokémon and their determination to win shining through.
"Go Dewgong / Gengar, I choose you" Both trainers yelled before tossing their pokeball.
From Ash's materalized a black-purple ghost like pokemon and from Misty's materalized a white Sea lion like Pokemon.
" Begin" The referee announced
Dewgong, let's start strong! Use Water Pulse!" Misty commanded, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
Dewgong sprang into action, forming a powerful sphere of water in its mouth and launching it toward Gengar. The Water Pulse surged through the air, aiming directly at the ghost-type Pokémon.
"Gengar, dodge it!" Ash yelled, but the command came a split second too late. Gengar tried to evade, but the Water Pulse struck him, sending him tumbling through the air before he splashed into the water.
"Now, Dewgong! Use Ice Beam!" Misty shouted, her confidence soaring.
Dewgong focused, unleashing a powerful beam of ice that shot toward the recovering Gengar. Ash's heart raced as he watched the icy projectile close in on his Pokémon.
"Gengar, counter with Night Shade!" Ash called, panic rising in his voice.
Gengar managed to gather energy and released a dark wave just in time, intercepting the Ice Beam. The collision created a dazzling explosion of ice and shadow, but the force of the attack pushed Gengar back, leaving him visibly shaken.
"Dewgong, finish it with Ice Fang!" Misty commanded, her voice steady and filled with purpose.
Dewgong lunged forward, icy fangs bared, ready to deliver a devastating blow. Gengar struggled to regain his footing, and Ash's mind raced.
"Come on, Gengar! You can do it!" Ash encouraged, though doubt crept into his heart.
At the last moment, Gengar managed to float upward, narrowly avoiding Dewgong's bite. But the pressure was on. "Use Psychic, Gengar!" Ash shouted, determination flaring within him.
Gengar's eyes glowed as he unleashed a wave of psychic energy. The attack hit Dewgong squarely, sending it skidding across the water.
"Dewgong, get back up! Use Twister!" Misty urged, refusing to give in.
Dewgong, though dazed, summoned its strength to create a spiraling torrent of water that surged toward Gengar. The Twister engulfed the ghost-type, and Ash felt the impact resonate through him.
"Gengar!" Ash exclaimed, feeling the weight of the match bearing down on him. "We can't give up! Use Will-O-Wisp!"
Gengar, glowing with ethereal flames, released the Will-O-Wisp in an attempt to catch Dewgong off guard. The flames spiraled through the air, but Dewgong evaded skillfully, its agility surprising Ash.
