THIS was a busy week for Adrien, so unfortunately he was not able to stop by the bakery even though it was already a Thursday.
Mrs. Dupain-Cheng did contact him about planning a surprise for Marinette later this weekend, so he was going to drop by to talk that out.
He already thought of what to give her as a birthday present. He wanted to make sure it was special for a special person like her.
"Come, sit. Thank you for coming," Tom greeted Adrien as they sat at the back of the bakery together, Sabine included.
"It's my pleasure, Mr. Dupain," the boy smiles, eager to be let in on their plan.
"We were planning to surprise Marinette this Saturday night for her birthday. Her friends will have her the entire day, so by sunset they'll bring her home."
The blond boy hesitated at the mention of her friends, considering that they didn't know about him. Or well, he supposed so.
"Sorry, do they know that I'm...friends...with Marinette? Considering, well, I've never crossed paths with them exactly," he questioned timidly, worried his question wasn't appropriate.
The two adults glanced at each other, before turning back to him. "Well, I don't think so. We'll have to work that out."
Now or never, Agresté. Now or never.
"Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng, is it okay if I ask you two something?"
The nervous tone laced in his voice brought a chuckle out of Sabine as she nodded. Tom did the same, insisting, "Go right ahead."
"I'm not sure how to word this. To be straightforward, I have feelings for Marinette. I haven't told her yet, but I'm planning to. And I want to--I want to ask, if I could take her out on Friday? I'm sorry, I've never done this before, I've never felt like this before, so it's kind of...it's like--"
"Aw dear!"
Sabine had gotten out of her seat and pulled the boy into her arms tightly. At this point, his face was tinted pink at the thought of confessing his feelings, and the fact that he just told her parents first.
"Honey, let him breathe," Tom joked after he noticed she still hadn't let go.
She pulled away, sharing a laugh with the blond boy as she sat down once more. "You're such a sweet boy. I'm glad you feel happy with Marinette. I'll definitely be inviting you over even more often!"
Adrien flashed her a grateful smile. "Honestly, you both are amazing people. Thank you for being so welcoming."
"So, does this mean we'll see our daughter receive flowers for her birthday for the first time?" Mr. Dupain asks teasingly.
The boy attempts to chuckle off his flustered feeling, as he nods. "Yeah, actually."
The shared look of approval from the two tells him that he had their full support.
