Rohit and Virat were the top academic achievers of each class. They were a perfect balance of brilliance and charm. They stood in the 1st and 2nd position often interchanging the positions with each other but no one else.

So naturally, when the General Studies Annual Inter-Team Competition began, they were chosen to be captains.

But of the opposite teams.

While the thrill of being chosen was exhilarating, the reality of leading rival teams cast a bittersweet shadow over their relationship.

"Can you believe we're captains?" Virat grinned as his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

Rohit chuckled, his heart swelling with pride. "Yeah, but it's going to be tough competing against you. You know I hate losing."

They formed their teams of four.

Virat wanting a team consisting of Kuldeep and Rishabh. But Jaddu unable to leave his boyfriend alone for even a second found a spot in Virat's team instead. They also included Karan, a newcomer who was good in general studies.

Rohit had no choice but to take the two chaotic mad-mans aka Shreyas and Rishabh in his team along with another classmate.

As they both worked on different tables, Rohit's gaze often shifted to Virat. He watched Virat animatedly discussing strategies with his squad, his smile lighting up the room.

Each laugh that escaped Virat's lips tightened the knot of jealousy in Rohit's stomach. It was irrational, but he couldn't help feeling possessive.

Rohit's heart sank when he spotted Karan lurking too close. The lanky newcomer leaned in, whispering something that made Virat laugh—a laugh that felt like it belonged to Rohit alone.

Each chuckle from Virat stung like a bee, and Rohit couldn't suppress the pout that formed on his lips.

'Why does he have to be so close?' Rohit thought, glaring at Karan, who was clearly trying to impress Virat.

The sight of Karan's fingers brushing against Virat's shoulder made his heart race as anger surged through him, a fierce and possessive instinct igniting.

His lips pressed into a thin line, and he felt like a child whose favorite toy was being snatched away.

The sight of Karan brushing closer to Virat made Rohit's blood boil.

With determination bubbling inside him, Rohit marched over, each step fueled by the need to reclaim his place.

"Vi baby!" he called, his voice sharper than intended, causing both boys to turn. Karan's smirk only fueled the fire inside him.

"Ye- yeah ?" Virat stuttered. His cheek red at the sudden nickname as confusion lingered in his eyes.

"I just wanted to go over the rules of the competition ," Rohit said, trying to maintain his composure. He didn't want to show Virat he was jealous.

Before Virat could respond, Karan stepped forward. He leaned in as he whispered yet another joke that sent Virat into another fit of laughter.

Rohit's heart sank further. His fists tightened.

'Can't you see he's trying to steal you away?' Rohit thought, glaring at Karan as if he could physically push him back.

It was ridiculous how furious he felt, but there was no denying the possessive streak that had taken hold.

He felt like a small child with his arms crossed tightly over his chest. He shot Karan a fierce glare, silently warning him to back off.

"Rohit?" Virat's voice broke through his thoughts, laced with concern. "You okay?"
