Something about this felt so familiar, felt so natural, so...real...

Part of him knew he was dreaming as he laid in someone's embrace, his face pressed into their chest and his arms wrapped tightly around them. Though it felt so real it was like there was static in the background, a fuzzy feeling in the air and to the person he was holding so tightly.

Satoru took a deep breath in through his nose, the persons scent filling his nose and causing a soft smile to sprawl across his face, where was he? He could feel a breeze against the nape of his neck as if a window was open, and he could hear the soft sounds of the ocean, yet in the moment he felt at home with who ever he was holding.

The person he was laying with was slowly rubbing his back, their touch feather like, a soothing sensation that made him feel like what ever had been bothering him was no more.

"It's not your fault."

The voice shook him from the soothing feeling, he'd open his eyes and lift his face to look into the persons eyes- yet they didn't have any... They didn't have a face.. It was a black hole in place of a face.

"What do you mean..?" He'd ask with a shaky voice, pushing himself up to a sitting position.

"It was never your fault." The voice echoes, the tone blunt and emotionless- robotic almost.

"I'm confused-"

"You couldn't have known. You couldn't have stopped him."

"Please I don't understand-"

"This is a new existence, a new chance; don't let fate repeat itself once again." And with that cryptic message the dream started to shift, he was now standing in a crowd of people, yelling out to someone he could not reach in the sea of people, all of them grey and dull compared the illuminated figure, who in his eyes shone as bright as the sun, so bright he had to squint.

"Come back.... Don't leave me like this..." He tried to scream instinctually, though his mouth wouldn't open; the words caged in his throat as he felt his heart pound harder than ever before, a searing pain in his chest.

What was this? A nightmare?

"Satoru wake up."

His eyes sprung open and he sat up with a jolt, he wasn't in a room by the sea nor a crowd of people, he was in a dimly lit room. Suguru's room.

Satoru's gaze fell onto Suguru's and he felt a sense of relief wash over him.

"You were muttering in your sleep." Suguru's voice was soft from sleep, the boy reaching forward and wiping a tear off his cheek which he wasn't even aware of.

"Was I? That's embarrassing." He would chuckle with a slightly awkward tone as he broke eye contact to look around the room, finding the alarm clock which read 3 am, that and the street lights from outside casted a very dim light around the room which lucky for him hid the redness in his face.

"Was it a nightmare?" Suguru asked gently, the tone of voice sounded oddly motherly to Satoru.

He pauses for a minute before replying, "Sorta..? I feel more confused than I do scared." Satoru admitted.

"Tell me about it, lay back down it's ok."

The white haired boy felt his face flush completely, was it ok? He knew he was taking this differently than Suguru... So was it really okay to lay with him in this way? When he had so many...... Feelings.

"Satoru?"

The little purr sound at the end of his name sounded like heaven when Suguru's voice graced his hearing, laying back down he'd lay on his back and look up at the ceiling as he began to explain the dream.

"Who was leaving you? What couldn't you stop?"

"I'm asking the same questions to myself." He sighed and rubbed his eyes.

There was some silence between them again before he felt a slightly hesitant arm sling over his chest and hug him.

"Well, I know it was just a dream, and I know the person wasn't me, but I won't leave you Satoru. You're my best friend."

Feeling his heart leap into his throat he struggled to control his breathing as Suguru hugged him, would he really keep his word if he knew the truth?

But that was for a later time. For now he just wanted to enjoy the moment, and this warm embrace where he felt safe.

"Thank you." He mumbled, closing his eyes once more and turning his body to face Suguru as he hugged him back.

Taking in a deep breath he let out a small inaudible sigh of comfort, the smell gave him a strong sense of deja vue, like he had smelled this scent more than just now, like throughout his whole time on this earth: every life, every plane of existence, that this scent followed him, comforted him, made his heart feel this tug. The scent that throughout everything shared the same name.

Suguru Geto.

°This was normal right? Holding your best friend at three in the morning while he went back to sleep from an unpleasant dream, it was okay right?

It was what friends did right?

What a platonic relationship between people was like right?

Suguru knew that nothing about this was inherently odd or weird, he'd seen many friends embrace like this and remain the same, as just friends.

This is was what a good friend would do, what a best friend would do.

So why did he feel this way? Why was he questioning this?

He looked down at his best friend, he looked at the way he pressed his face into his chest so tightly that Suguru wondered how he breathed comfortably.

It made a sense of warmth swirl in his chest, it gave him a sting in his cheeks.

Suguru wanted to hold Satoru impossibly closer, he knew the other was hurting from something he didn't seem to want to tell him just yet- if ever... He longed to know, to be closer to him, to be the one to know the white haired beauty's secrets.. To be the one who knew more than anyone else.

Was this what it was like to have a best friend?

The longing to know every small detail about Satoru wasn't foreign, he had felt this growing impulse since they first locked eyes on his first day at Tokyo High.

There was nothing wrong with that.

"Are you lonely...?" Suguru mumbled mostly to himself, he was sure Satoru wouldn't hear him, he was sure that he was asleep and the question would go without response.

To his shock he felt Satorus thin fingers curl slightly against his shirt, gripping the fabric as he pulled himself closer to Suguru.

Had he heard his question..?

Suguru placed one hand to the back of Satoru's head, his fingers moving slowly against the others scalp as his baby soft white hair tickled against his skin as he pressed his face against it.

His hair smelled just like his own, a gentle smell of coconut. It wasn't surprising since Satoru had used his shampoo, yet it somehow made his heart cramp up in his chest.

Holding each other tight he'd make a silent wish, a wish that he knew he shouldn't be making, yet it felt so right to make..

Letting his eyes close once more Suguru would join Satoru in sleep, this time their sleep dreamless yet filled with a content warmth.

He wished they could stay like this for forever, for every universe they shared together, that in every one they would find each other like this.

Was that so wrong to wish for?
