Akshara's POVThe incident happened two days ago, but he was still occupying my thoughts. “Adhithya.” I don’t know why, but even though I had only seen him once, he kept lingering in my mind.
Lost in thought about him in the cafeteria, Akash interrupted with a teasing tone, “Whom are you daydreaming about?”
“No one,” I answered, my face flushing.
“Of course, we can see it from your flushed face,” Srishti chimed in, grinning widely.
Before I could respond, a deep throat clear interrupted our conversation. We turned to see him standing there—Adhithya, with his charming face and confident demeanor.
“How’s your ankle?” he asked, his voice laced with genuine concern.
“So, you were daydreaming about him?” Akash whispered to me, a teasing grin spreading across his face.
I shot him a glare, trying to suppress the heat rising to my cheeks. “No, I wasn’t!” I insisted, but my flustered expression betrayed me.
Adhithya raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes as he observed our exchange. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything important,” he said, his tone light but his gaze still focused on me.
“No, not at all,” I replied quickly. “And my ankle? Yeah, it’s fine.” I tried to sound casual, but I could feel my heart racing in his presence.
“Shall we know who this is?” Srishti asked curiously, her eyes darting between me and Adhithya.
I felt a rush of nerves as I glanced at Adhithya, unsure of how to introduce him. “Uh, this is Adhithya,” I finally managed, trying to sound composed. “He’s been working here .”
Adhithya nodded slightly, his expression neutral but attentive. “Nice to meet you,” he said, his gaze shifting from me to Srishti and Akash.
Srishti smiled brightly. “Nice to meet you! So, what do you do here?”
“I work under the CEO,” Adhithya replied casually, the weight of his position lingering in the air.
“Wow, impressive!” Akash remarked, clearly intrigued. “I guess we’re in the presence of someone important, huh?”
Adhithya chuckled softly, the moment of levity breaking the tension. “I wouldn’t say that, but I do try to keep a low profile.” His eyes met mine again, and I felt the familiar flutter in my stomach.
As the conversation flowed, Akash glanced at his watch and said, “We should get going. We have some important work assigned by our lead.”
Srishti nodded in agreement. “Yeah, we’ll catch up later!” She flashed a quick smile at me before they both headed off.
I was left standing with Adhithya in the now-empty cafeteria, the atmosphere feeling oddly intimate. The hum of conversation had faded, leaving us surrounded by silence.
