You sat on your bed, crisscrossed applesauce staring at the rows of candles you lined up on your desk.
It's been a few days since you've been practicing controlling your cursed energy, which was way harder than you expected.
You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of your cursed energy humming beneath your skin.
It was strange how natural it felt in the beginning, like an extension of your own being rather than the foreign power it once seemed.
The candles reflected in your eyes, and you focused on the wicks, feeling the pull of energy within you respond.
Slowly, you raised your hand, palm facing the candles. You concentrated on the energy, envisioning it flowing from your core to the tips of your fingers, just like you had been practicing.
A subtle shift in the air rippled through the room as your cursed energy seeped out. The first candle's flame began to flicker more intensely, then danced as if caught in a breeze.
You felt a small thrill at the sight, but you knew not to lose focus.
With steady control, you allowed the energy to expand, extending its influence to the other candles. One by one, their flames swayed and flickered, responding to the force you exerted.
Once it hit the last candle you smiled.
You then pushed out your energy to your finger tips, a small flame flickered there as you tried to think of an animal.
The flame danced at your fingertips, tiny and delicate, yet filled with potential. You smiled to yourself, the thrill of control making your heart race.
Yaga had predicted it would take you a full week to get the hang of it, but he was obviously wrong.
You weren't one of those regular students.
You took a deep breath, feeling the cursed energy hum beneath the surface of your skin. Now you had a to focus on shaping it.
The flickering flame at your fingertips grew a little brighter as you concentrated.
You thought of the shape you wanted, picturing it clearly in your mind. A small, swift creature, agile and sharp. A fox, cat, or something similar.
Slowly, the flame began to shift. Its light stretched and curved, flickering in and out of focus as you pushed more of your cursed energy into it.
The outline of a small, slender body started to emerge, and you grinned, feeling the rush of success fill you. The flame's form grew clearer—pointed ears, a lithe body, and a tail curling behind it.
But just as the shape began to solidify, something wavered. A jolt of resistance ran through your cursed energy, and the flame quivered. Your smile faltered as the energy slipped out of your control, expanding too fast, the fox's form distorting into something unstable.
