Days passed, and slowly but surely, Jungkook began to settle into his new life in the palace. At first, it was overwhelming. The grandeur of the palace, the sudden warmth of the family who had accepted him with open arms, and the constant attention all took time for him to adjust to. Yet, with Jin's gentle encouragement and Namjoon's quiet, steady support, Jungkook found himself slowly becoming part of the family.

Every morning, he was welcomed to the breakfast table, no longer a silent observer but an active participant in the family's daily routines. The first few times he sat down with everyone, Jungkook felt as though he were walking on eggshells, unsure if he was intruding. But Jin was quick to ease his worries. "You belong here now," he had said with a reassuring smile. And with that, Jungkook began to feel more comfortable, his heart swelling with a warmth he hadn't felt in years.

In the mornings, the family gathered for breakfast in the sunlit dining room. The long, polished wooden table was adorned with dishes of freshly baked bread, fruits, and steaming plates of food. Jungkook, at first hesitant, began to engage in the lighthearted conversations at the table. He was still shy, often watching more than speaking, but his soft smiles and polite demeanor made him endearing to everyone. The entire family grew fond of the boy with each passing day.

Jungkook would often help Jin in the kitchen, his small hands working diligently beside Jin as they prepared meals together. At first, it was Jin who insisted Jungkook stay with him, offering it as a way for the boy to feel more at home. But soon enough, it became clear that Jungkook found solace in these quiet moments, away from the overwhelming nature of the palace's grand halls. Jin, ever perceptive, noticed how much Jungkook enjoyed the simple act of cooking and took every opportunity to include him.

Jungkook's favorite part was baking. He and Jin would spend hours kneading dough, carefully shaping pastries, and laughing softly at little mistakes that didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. There was something comforting about the steady rhythm of kitchen work, and in those moments, Jungkook felt a sense of peace he hadn't known was possible.

He had become the family's favorite. It wasn't just because of his politeness or how obedient he was—though those traits certainly helped—but because of his quiet charm. There was something undeniably endearing about the way he would give a small, shy smile when someone complimented him, or the way his eyes sparkled when he was genuinely happy. Jungkook's presence had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease.

But there was one person in particular who seemed to be paying more attention to Jungkook than anyone else—Taehyung.

Taehyung, with his playful and mischievous nature, had always been the life of the palace. His laughter echoed through the halls, and his charm could win over even the most stubborn of hearts. He had taken a special interest in Jungkook from the moment they met. There was something about the boy—perhaps it was his quiet demeanor, or maybe it was the way he blushed every time their eyes met—that piqued Taehyung's curiosity.

At first, Taehyung's attempts to engage Jungkook were met with shy smiles and stammered responses. Jungkook, already overwhelmed by his new surroundings, found it difficult to be around Taehyung. Every time Taehyung smiled at him, his heart would race, and he couldn't understand why. It was confusing and terrifying all at once. Was this what love felt like? Jungkook didn't know, but he was afraid. He had spent so long in isolation, so long hiding from the world, that the idea of opening his heart to someone seemed impossible. So, he did the only thing he knew how to do—he avoided Taehyung.

Whenever Taehyung entered the room, Jungkook would quickly find an excuse to leave. If they were alone together, Jungkook would keep his head down, his face flushed with nervousness. His heart ached with feelings he didn't know how to express, and so he built walls around himself, hoping to keep Taehyung at a distance.
