Ominis POV
Natsai and Ominis had just finished their final, it was in the field, an actual mission. They were sent to track, apprehend and bring in their mark. They were sent to find a known murderer, albeit a fairly clumsy one. They took two days to track him, and the combined strength and teamwork of Ominis and Natty made short work of the apprehension. It was the first time that the two partners had actually taken someone into Azkaban. He had never been so glad he didn't turn HIM in.
When they were waiting for the review of their mission, Natty asked him what his plans were after this. Any changes he was thinking of? Or everything staying the same. He could tell she was nervous and just making small talk. Of course he wanted things to stay the same. Iris and him were blissfully happy getting to be together and they had a made a nice little home. He did want to get a place in the country for their downtime, he didn't like being in the city all the time. However...now was as good a time as any to tell his best friend what he was thinking of doing.
"I am going to ask her to marry me, Natsai. We have waisted a lot of time already. She is my life, why wait?".
Natty whipped her head around, she had not been expecting that! "Are you sure you aren't rushing this....I think something is missing?".
Ominis just stared at her blankly. He didn't understand her sometimes. "What do you mean Natsai??" He questioned.
She stuttered, she was usually so sure of herself. She was looking like she was trying to find something to say. "Um, I guess I just mean I hope you aren't asking her because of all the stuff your family keeps saying about getting married".
He studied her face, he could tell she was lying, but it didn't seem to be a large lie. Plus, she did hit on a concern he had as well.
"No, it's actually not them. I won't let her take my name. I am walking away from that family, we will figure something out. I just can't wait for her to be with me forever" he said firmly.
Natty's energy softened, "of course, you really are perfectly matched". She said.
"Now I got to figure out the perfect way to ask her! She deserves a decadent proposal". He had so many ideas, but all would take a lot of planning and coordination. He would have to find the right balance, because he wanted to not wait too much longer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iris was meeting with one of the two remaining curse breakers. She was a woman in her mid forties, very brave- but obviously overworked and probably burned out. She was explaining ways to figure out if a curse was from an object or someone cast it. Iris was extremely interested in this, and asked her "what about blood curses?"
Her instructor for the day, Natalie Higgins, drew in a sharp breath. "Those are often the trickiest, and often incurable. There have been many attempts at break throughs, but not many have been discovered." She was looking at Iris thoughtfully.
"Why don't ask Iris? Have you heard the recent reports?".
Iris bristled at the statement, "wait, what recent reports? I was asking because a dear friend of mine died a couple years ago. She was cursed and nobody would save her".
"I'm sorry to hear that....was she a child?" Natalie asked.
"Yes, she was a teenager and was cursed by a dark wizard because she was playing", Iris said sadly.
"I think I remember that case.....I shouldn't say this, but they are worried it may be happening again." Natalie said in a whisper.
Iris had goosebumps all over, she felt like she couldn't breathe. What the hell did she mean, it might be happening again?
