"So I was thinking for the dessert we can have either a passionfruit mouse and creme brûlée, or a classic cheesecake and tiramisu," Antoine, the head of pastry/desserts at the restaurant stated plainly looking over the spreadsheet in the office, "It's our top choices of desserts in the restaurants and that's what most people come for."Restaurant week was approaching and this would be the first time Silas 's restaurant would be participating after opening two years prior. It was a lot of pressure to make sure they are providing top of the line hospitality as well as great meals for the menu. This meant longer hours at the restaurant and taste testing potential additions to the menu. So far they had managed appetizers but still had to work on the meals and desserts.
"How about we try a mango mousse recipe?" Emily, his sous-chef, suggests, "It's a flavor we haven't tried yet but is extremely popular."
"That can work," Silas nodded writing that down before briefly looking at the time, "Work on creating a sample, I'll try it out tomorrow along with three other people I will bring. It will be unbiased I swear."
The chefs smile, laughing at that.
"Also be sure to get a list of at least four different entrée types. One that is vegan friendly, one that is new, and the other two you can decide. I will have the same three try those dishes out tomorrow as well," Silas wrote that down as well as the chefs, "Now I think we can save the rest for tomorrow, sorry for keeping you so late."
"It's no problem at all, we love what we do and are excited for the week!" Emily said standing up along with Antoine.
"Thank you both, I'll see you tomorrow."
With a nod the two had left and Silas immediately began scrambling to grab his things and get home. It was the fourth night in a row he would be heading back home late. He had promised Selena he would be back in time to help her with the girls night time routines yet here he was again even later than before.
He cursed under his breathe leaving the office, he did a lap around making sure nobody was still around and locked up the restaurant. With that he stepped in his car making his way safely home.

Pulling into the driveway, he noticed the hallway light on for him. He got out the car and immediately went into their home, taking off his shoes and setting the alarm behind him.
Dropping his bag and keys near the desk by the stairs, he walked up slowly making sure not to wake anyone in his movement. He knew Selena was mad but would be even more so if he woke the baby. He turned off the hall light and made his way to the main bathroom.
He showered quickly, doing his nightly routine and threw on a fresh pair of boxers left for him by his wife on the counter. He put on his robe and exited in the hallways towards his daughter's shared room.
Opening the door slowly, he glanced at the two in the room dimly lit with a princess nightlight. His three year old was spread on the bed with the blanket lying on the floor beside her. He smiled shaking his head while his one year old laid in one spot on the Montessori floor bed. His heart warmed at the sight of his daughters before leaving the room closing the door.
Walking to their bedroom, his hand pulls at the door knob only for it to not turn. He attempted to turn it again only for it the stay in the same position. She locked him out, he couldn't believe it. Silas sighed and turned in the direction of the guest bedroom when a small shuffle sounded from behind him.
"Daddy," His eldest, Isabel, whispered rubbing her eyes.
"Si, amor. Why are you up?"He asked as she held her arms up for him.
