As I browsed the shelves in the school library, my eyes scanned the spines of various books, searching for something that could assist me with the upcoming exam. The silence in the library was only broken by the sound of my finger as it lightly grazed the books as if I was hoping the right book would magically jump out at me.
I let out a sigh of frustration as my search seemed to be going nowhere. The amount of books on the shelves seemed never-ending, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of stress at the thought of having to sift through all of them to find what I needed.
My heart fluttered in my chest as I felt a presence behind me. I turned to see Fane standing there, leaning against the shelf and flashing me a charming smile. He casually waved at me, his gaze locked on mine, causing a mix of surprise and confusion to flood my veins.
My curiosity piqued as I wondered what Fane was doing in the library. Was he here to study like me, or was he just hanging out?
I refocused my attention on the task at hand, continuing my search for the book I needed. I tried to act casual, as if Fane's presence wasn't affecting me.
I was caught off guard as Fane patted my shoulder, and I looked up at him. His expression was a mixture of mock sadness, as if he was lamenting some imaginary tragedy. I couldn't help but let out a small laugh, amused.
I glanced at my phone as a message appeared on the screen: "What's with the sad face?" I turned the screen towards Fane, silently questioning his melodramatic expression.
Fane leaned closer to look at my phone as I typed the question. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he read my message. "Nothing serious," he said, his voice dripping with playful sarcasm. "Just mourning the fact that I didn't bring my clown nose today."
A genuine smile tugged at the corners of my lips at Fane's witty response. Despite his reputation , he had a way of making me laugh, even in the most unexpected moments.
Fane caught my smile and returned it with a lazy grin. He leaned closer, resting his arm on the shelf next to me, his gaze still locked on mine.
"So what are you searching for that's so important?" he teased, gesturing to the books around us.I was confused as I smiled and typed.' We have a history exam next week, and you know it.'
Fane raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. "Wait, you mean we have a history exam next week?" he asked, putting on an air of mock disbelief. "I had no idea. Here I thought we were getting a week off to party."
As Fane jokingly feigned ignorance about the upcoming exam, I couldn't help but smile again at his attempt at humor. Even though he was acting like he didn't care, I could see a hint of underlying interest in his eyes, a spark of curiosity as he waited for my response.
I continued typing on my phone, my fingers flying over the screen as I crafted a response. Once I finished typing, I held up the phone for Fane to read.
Fane took a moment to read my response on the phone. His eyes scanned the screen, a hint of intrigue in his gaze. After a beat, he raised an eyebrow and looked back at me, a smirk playing on his lips.
I typed on my phone.'Did you really vandalize the principal's car?'
Fane's smirk widened as he read my question about the principal's car. He chuckled quietly and leaned in even closer, his shoulders brushing against mine. "Who told you that?" he asked, his voice low and playful.
The heat in my cheeks intensified as I typed my response. I hesitated for a moment before mustering the courage to type the next part, my fingers trembling slightly as I typed the words.
"I... um... you winked at me, and I... got a little confused," I admitted, my heart pounding as I showed him the screen.
